Opera Max

Opera Max is the Android-application using which it is possible to save online videos given when viewing, images and web pages and when listening music in network. Today, it is the most functional cloud service for a compression and data management. Opera Max was for the first time presented at the Mobile World Congress exhibition in 2014.

Thanks to a bigger number of the supported devices and languages, Opera Max is available to 98% of Android users, both on smartphones, and on tablets now. Most of all users of Opera Max live in India, Indonesia, Brazil, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Malaysia, South Africa, Russia, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

10 million people for May, 2016 use Opera Max service. It means that the number of users of Opera Max of all in a year grew by 3300% — from 300 thousand in April, 2015 up to 10 million in April, 2016.

2017: Project closure

The Opera Software company in the corporate blog announced on August 14 complete curtailment of work on Opera Max. As the result, the company is not going to release update for mobile application any more and in the near future will delete it from the directory of Google Play Store shop.^[1]

As explained in Opera Software, Opera Max positioning too differed from browser products that, in turn, required significantly a different approach to its development. It, as a result, caused project closure. The company also expressed the intention to concentrate attention on browsers and other service offers.

Revolutionary solution

Opera Max for Android devices was positioned by the company as the revolutionary solution for economy of mobile traffic, ensuring protection and management of applications. By means of the analysis of behavioural factors of the user the application offered different methods of prolongation of action of a tariff plan for economy of expenses.

Among key features there is Opera Max:

• tracking of expenses of traffic in applications with drawing up reports and offers on its decrease;
• the specialized tool for economy on traffic in Facebook;
• the instrument of data compression for fans of YouTube, Instagram and other social networks,
• settings of an expense mobile or Wi-Fi-traffic;
• the safe and ciphered connection in public Wi-Fi-networks, the mode incognito in all applications and also optimization of loading at weak Wi - Fi - connection.

User support

Current users of Opera Max, on Opera Software assurances, will be able to get full support "during the certain time frame". The company will announce completion of service support of a product in addition.

As of August 14, Opera Max is still available to loading in Google Play, including in the Russian-language version.
