Behavioural biometrics from BioCatch
The Experian company and the company in the field of behavioural biometrics – BioCatch combined at the beginning of 2017 efforts for prevention of online fraud with bank accounts and the credits. At the heart of the project – the platform of counteraction to fraud and plunder of personal data of CrossCore from Experian.
The CrossCore platform is designed to protect clients of financial institutions from attempts of fraud when opening new accounts. Integration of BioCatch technology into the platform provides the high level of protection against fraud even if malefactors managed to steal personal data of clients. It is important that at the same time no inconveniences for users are caused, and process of an execution of the online request for the credit does not slow down.
The software of BioCatch integrated with the CrossCore platform analyzes interaction of users with devices and the websites, keeping track of a large number of factors, such as speed of text typing or manner of cursor movement of a mouse according to the page. Collected information helps to define whether really the user is that for whom issues itself.
The technology distinguishes real users from swindlers using such parameters as speed of filling of the request (the swindler is familiar with process of filling of the request and works quicker), the navigation speed (criminals, as a rule, show the skills of the advanced user usually unusual for respectable clients, for example, use function keys and the keyboard shortcuts) and knowledge of personal data (swindlers provide these victims, without going into detail therefore, at input noticeable contradictions are created).
The behavioural biometrics is especially useful to detection of automatic programs, or bots using which swindlers submit online applications for the credits, using the stolen personal data which they take including on "the dark Internet". According to Javelin analytical company, in the USA in 2015 more than 1.5 million people became the victims of fraud with opening of new accounts, and the general losses made $2.8 billion. In 2016 these digits grew by 40%: about 6% of residents of the USA became the victims of plunder of personal data that honor at 2 million people more, than in 2015.
