2019: Announcement of xStorage Building
The Eaton company, the world leader in the field of management of energy, announced on July 5, 2019 xStorage Building — the system of accumulation of the electric power especially relevant in the conditions of the growing costs for the electric power and increases in complexity of the managing systems. A system will be shown in Yekaterinburg from July 8 to July 11.
Its application allows to regulate loading depending on demand and to use the environmentally friendly renewable energy sources (RES). This solution is already implemented at Johan Cruyff Arena stadium.
Electricity received from network or from RES stocks up in 280 rechargeable batteries of the Nissan LEAF car. A system is capable to generate 4 MW of energy and at peak loads on network is used for power supply of adjoining buildings.
2016: Nissan and Eaton will create the modules xStorage
As it became known in June, 2016, the company Nissan and Eaton combined efforts for creation of the new household power module which is designed to become the most economic solution in the market. The modules xStorage will be available to the preorder, since September, 2016. They will allow consumers to control time and quantity of the spent electric power at home.
The module can be connected both to the household power source, and to a renewable energy source, for example, to solar panels. The solution allows consumers to cut down expenses on the electric power, saving it then when it is available from a renewable source or when rates are one energy cheaper (for example, at night), and spending stored energy as necessary or during the highest rates. If apartment houses are equipped with solar batteries, consumers can use the "net" energy which is saved up in the xStorage system, saving on expensive day electricity rates.
In case of a lack of the network electric power or at its shutdown the module is uninterruptible power supply unit that is an optimal solution for power consumers at the moments of an overload of network. Consumers can also gain an additional income, selling energy back in network.
xStorage will become the device, the first in the market, which provides completely integrated solution for accumulation and storage of the electric power in house conditions. It means that unlike other storage devices of energy this built-in module of factory production guarantees safe work at storage and distribution of "net" energy for consumers. After installation by the certified specialist the module at once is ready to work – the consumer can just connect and activate it. The device can also be managed using the application on the smartphone that allows consumers to switch power sources by one contact of the button.
The module is powered from twelve batteries of the electric vehicles Nissan, providing them "the second life", and is capable to change the principle of management of the electric power, providing additional flexibility and economy of savings.
The new xStorage system is the beginning of the long-term cooperation between Nissan and Eaton companies directed to expansion of a solution portfolio on accumulation and storage of energy both for individual and for corporate clients. Due to continuous growth of consumer demand for this Nissan and Eaton technology are going to sell more than 100,000 modules xStorage in the next five years.
