To Ukraine import the equipment for diagnosis of AIDS and tuberculosis for $3.75 million

2016: Delivery to Ukraine of the equipment for diagnosis of AIDS and tuberculosis to $3.76 million

At the beginning of June, 2016 more than $4 million became known of the preparing deliveries to Ukraine of the medical equipment for diagnosis of tuberculosis and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) to the amount. This project will be implemented within tender process of the Program of Organization Development of the United Nations (PODUN), the UNIAN tells.

Tenders for delivery of test sets for diagnosis of AIDS, antiretroviral therapy and monitoring of HIV infection won the companies Abbot, Axygen, Beckman Coulter Becton Dickinson and Company, Bio-Rad, ILS, MediaBioAlliance, Roche Diagnostics, Standard Diagnostics and Thermo Fisher. They will begin to supply the Ukrainian medical institutions with the necessary equipment and medicines in June, 2016. The total cost of purchase is estimated at $3.76 million.

Besides, Becton Dickinson and Company won tender on delivery of the test of diagnosis of tuberculosis to the amount against more than $536 thousand.

Purchase of medicines and products of medical appointment through PROON became a part of the agreement signed at the end of October, 2015 at the request of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to provide quality, timely delivery and optimal pricing of drugs for patients across all Ukraine. This agreement will work with capacity-building and the program for exchange of knowledge for the purpose of reforming of purchasing systems.

Since November, 2015 purchase of medicines and the equipment for national programs of the Ministry of Health is performed through PROON thanks to what it was succeeded to reduce tax burden of $572.5 thousand.

Meanwhile, it became known that in 2017 the USA will provide to Ukraine $30 million for fight against HIV within the American government program for prevention of this disease Pepfar. Its total amount for 2017-2021 will be $15 billion.[1]
