2016: Opening of the Center of researches of visualization of a brain in Cardiff

At the beginning of June, 2016 in Cardiff (the capital of Wales) one of the centers of researches of technologies of neurovisualization which are most advanced in Europe opened. There the equipment Siemens Healthineers which should help with development of effective methods of treatments of neurologic and psychiatric diseases was delivered.

Elizabeth II's queen and her the spouse Duke of Edinburgh Philip took part in opening of the Center of researches of visualization of a brain based on Cardiff University (CUBRIC). His employees will be engaged in studying of origins of neurologic and mental disorders, such as dementia, schizophrenia and multiple sclerosis and also will investigate structure of a healthy brain.

By it in the help four devices for performing the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) purchased Siemens Healthineers. Thanks to them scientists will be able to receive the broad picture about structure, functions and chemical composition of living tissues of a brain that will allow to improve methods of rendering neurologic and mental health services.

One of MRT-systems which is referred to as Magnetom Skyra Connectom 3T1 is unique in Europe (by June, 2016). This equipment allows to conduct researches of structures of 0.001 mm in size. It contains the 300 gradient coils mtl/m that six times more in comparison with the traditional equipment of this class.

Besides, delivered Siemens Healthineers in the Magnetom 7T2 MRT-scanner center having ultrahigh space resolution capability and twice stronger magnetic field strength of rather competing solutions presented at the market. Such device will allow to display earlier indiscernible structures of a brain with an ideal contrast.

At the expense of the latest equipment specialists of CUBRIC will be able to apply advanced methods of researches, using the cognitive equipment and visualization which will be used further for the best understanding of neurologic and mental diseases and also arising in a brain of the changes leading to disorders of sensory perception and bad state of mind.^[1]
