Atos Bull Extreme Factory

Computer simulation became one of the main tools for implementation and development of innovations. However due to the lack of resources or necessary knowledge and experience many organizations have no access to HPC-infrastructure. Bull at the beginning of summer of 2016 provided extreme factory service packages for high-performance computing. The solution integrates a series of cloud services and gives the chance to the enterprises of any size and a segment of the market to get access to resources of the supercomputer center on the basis of the personalized approach.

Extreme factory includes four service packages for creation of individual solutions. Depending on business challenges computing resources on demand are provided to customers or the service package is implemented directly based on private infrastructure (service as outsourcing).

The solution of XFoD "pay per use" allows the company to get access to the integrated computing resources which are provided on demand and Bull are serviced. Payment is made by the principle of "pay per use", i.e. the customer pays for the actual volume of the consumed services. Users through the protected portal on the Internet are connected to the customized working environments where they can start on demand process of computer simulation. Processing nodes are distributed between different clients, and work assignments are performed by the principle of a priority of receipt. This simple flexible economic solution is ideal for the organizations with unexpectedly the arising needs for computer simulation and also for the situations which are not requiring urgency, for example, for carrying out experiments. This solution is constructed on a hybrid cloud, and, if necessary, providing additional computing powers is possible.

To adapt often to the changing conditions arising owing to sharing of resources, very difficult. For such IT scenarios Bull proposes the solution extreme factory on demand reserved which will approach in cases when it is possible to expect approach of surges in activity in advance. Within this solution users can "reserve" for themselves computing powers on the specified period in advance. It actually eliminates the risks connected with need to wait for release of the resources occupied by someone another: the required computing powers are guaranteed reserved for the user and will be available during the specified time frame. At the same time the user should make payment for a reserve irrespective of whether it used it or not. This solution combines all advantages of the integrated computing resources and flexibility of a public cloud with a possibility of the guaranteed reservation under the needs. The solution can independently be used or in adding to a private cloud in a hybrid configuration, and it is ideal for single projects with insufficient quantity of processor resources.

The solution XF private on premises allows to unroll computing resources and resources of virtualization within IT infrastructure, saving at the same time all advantages of a cloud with its flexibility and computer power. In this scenario cloud infrastructure remains in the company and is serviced by its IT personnel, and specialists of Bull are responsible for formation and creation of infrastructure, its optimization, consolidation and upgrade of resources, coordinating of processes (including internal). The solution XF private on premises located in the territory of the customer becomes the gateway providing access to a private cloud for high-performance computing. Resources of the customer of high-performance computing are completely integrated, structured and protected, and he can take all advantage of flexible infrastructure of clouds.

The solution XF private hosted is focused on the companies for which long-term access to computing resources is necessary. Cloud infrastructure is created, constructed and is serviced by specialists of Bull and also is placed in the protected Bull data processing center. Connection goes through the protected Internet gateway (which capacity is defined individually) or through VPN connection which is supported by the operator of the customer or Bull. The company receives maximum capacity without need to involve in process of her specialists who can concentrate attention on accomplishment of fundamental obligations and tasks.
