Abbott will help Belgorod to optimize medical laboratories

2016: The Abbott project in the Belgorod region

At the end of June, 2016 it became known of plans of Abbott for optimization of medical laboratories in the Belgorod region. The governor of the region Evgeny Savchenko held the corresponding negotiations with company management within the economic forum in St. Petersburg.

Two vice presidents of the company were, and  we agreed that they consider our area as perspective for import substitution of a pharmapromyshlennost and  medical products  — Savchenko reported.

According to him, during negotiations the decision to create in the Belgorod region the working group which will be engaged in the analysis of a situation with laboratory researches in  the medical sphere and opportunities for its optimization was made.

I estimated: about one billion are spent for  conducting laboratory researches, and if we manage  to reduce these costs for several millions,  without having lost quality, and   due to performance improvement of work, optimization of transportations,  it is necessary to go to this project — the governor said.

As for import substitution of pharmaceuticals, as Evgeny Savchenko noted, it is multi-billion projects which the government of the region intends to support. The governor estimated negotiations as positive.

The managing director of diagnostic division of Abbott for  Russia and  the CIS Dmitry Paramonov reported that the company regards Belgorod as one of potential partners, being going to offer a full range of services there and to help with construction of effective structure of network of diagnostic laboratories. Speaking about implementation conditions, Paramonov told the following:

In the beginning we develop centralization model, we carry out the complete analysis and  financial calculations. Then we begin cooperation with  the regional authorities on  project implementation and  further upgrade of already centralized laboratory.[1]
