The ALP Group company carried out complex IT audit of an information system of Omega group, one of the Russian distributors of spare parts to trucks of the European production. As a result of this work the hidden causes of failures of the IC are established and eliminated, the directions of its development are defined, the project of upgrade is prepared.
The head office, the logistic center and distribution warehouse of the company are in Moscow, there is also a network of regional branches and retail stores. Business processes and the information system (IS) provide permanent existence in the Moscow distribution warehouse and in retail outlets more than 25 thousand names which are most demanded by buyers, fast delivery of spare parts under the order, a debugged supply system to regions and also work with spare parts of all price categories: from the European premium class to economy class substitutes. This strategy provided to Omega Group sustainable development even in crisis years.
Specialists of ALP Group led complex audit of IT infrastructure of the customer, including servers, storage systems (local disk arrays and external systems of storage), network equipment, data networks, methods of connection of various subscriber devices and also solutions ensuring information security. Work of the application software was investigated (management systems for purchases and sales of goods and also business applications on the 1C: Enterprise platform). Besides, also the most important infrastructure services of an information system were analyzed: Active Directory, DBMS, e-mail, file service, service of remote desktops, etc. The central office was inspected completely, in regions of work were carried out in standard branches that allowed to reduce costs and to gain an adequate impression about all regional segment of the IC. The prepared report contained characteristic of a status of the studied objects, the analysis of the reasons of the observed problems, detailed recommendations about the directions of development of infrastructure and step-by-step instructions for its upgrade.
Audit revealed a number of problems which main reason a number of the historical developed defects in architecture of an information system of Omega Group is. So, virtualization was almost not applied to reliability assurance and fault tolerance of key services, and each IT service relied on the separate physical server which "falling" automatically meant loss of service for the entire period of identification and elimination of causes of accident. It created notable risks for business processes in which several IT services are involved at once.
ALP Group developed the concept new IT infrastuktury. It, in particular, provides broad use of technology of the virtualization allowing to configure flexibly all infrastructure quicker and cheaper to provide otkazo-and disaster tolerance, optimum to use available capacities.
At the same time service of the most difficult and critical services for which the customer does not have enough regular competences can be interim or constantly organized according to the scheme of outsourcing. Implementation of this concept began in May, 2016. This project will give to Omega Group long-term competitive advantages, having provided business by the flexible, reliable, scalable IT base and also the accurate agreements on service quality (SLA) allowing to count and minimize IT risks, holding expenses on IT at the minimum level.
