On September 19, 2018 it became known that the Jet Infosystems company developed the strategy of development for continuity of IT services for X5 Retail Group. Measures in its structure will train the retailer for extraordinary and emergency situations.
This concept assumes:
- permanent availability of the main information systems in retail chain stores and a back office,
- fault tolerance of IT infrastructure,
- minimum idle times of IT systems,
- readiness for fast recovery in case of emergencies.

Unavailability of this or that IT service can result in essential inconveniences of the buyer. He will not find the necessary goods on the shelf, will not be able to take advantage of the advantageous offer or will spend more time at the checkout. Implementing the strategy of IT continuity in close cooperation with business, we will gradually achieve that failures in work of IT systems would not will be how many that it was essential to influence work of shop, and idle times will be minimum and imperceptible for the buyer. Entrusted development of the strategy of development for continuity of IT services of X5 Retail Group to Jet Infosystems system integrator. At an audit stage experts of the company analyzed as the main business processes of the retailer depend on IT, and estimated influence of idle times of key IT systems on business. The large-scale research of business drivers of shopping facilities, business operations and IT services became a basis for the analysis. By method of mathematical modeling the project team calculated the cost of idle times, based on it target indicators of availability of IT systems were defined.
On the next stage of the project specialists Jet Infosystems carried out top level calculation of optimal configurations of the X5 Retail Group hardware, made the forecast of a target status of architecture of IT systems, including reserve DPC, solutions for safety and recovery of information and also recommended a number of organizational measures.
In a project deliverable, executed together with Jet Infosystems, X5 Retail Group accepted the road map within which the company implements the strategy of development for continuity of IT services. At the same time plans of growth of X5 Retail Group and the forecast of how requirement of the company for IT services will increase were considered.
The continuity of IT services has crucial value for effective functioning of the modern company. Even several minutes of equipment downtime turn around in million losses, especially for retail. Accomplishment of the corporate standard on providing necessary indicators of continuity allows to reduce the probability of losses, so, all large players of the market should think of it. On June 29, 2016 the press service of Jet Infosystems company announced system implementation of counteraction to fraud and guaranteeing income of Raid in X5 Retail Group[1].
Project Progress
25 complex procedures controlling cash operations and actions with cards of loyalty, logistics of goods in shops (excesses, write-offs and so forth), merchandising (order amounts, trade inventories, forecasts of write-off, etc.) — only about 80% of the business processes existing in retail chain stores are developed.
Having studied infrastructure of the customer and the operating business processes, specialists of the company contractor defined a set of sources of information for an antifraud system and structure of the loaded data, executed installation and integration with systems sources. Are connected to the solution:
- the central database servers on cash transactions of retail chain stores;
- processing center of the loyalty program;
- modules ERP- and HR systems; mechanisms of automatic data loading from them are configured. At the same time the data necessary for the operational analysis of a situation come to an antifraud system within only several minutes.
On the basis of own examination in the field of fight against fraud and taking into account experience of analysts of X5 Retail Group, specialists of Jet Infosystems company developed models (complexes of algorithms) of identification of wrongful acts of employees. Algorithms help to automatically determine suspicious schemes, errors in processes of cash services of buyers, accomplishment of transactions on programs of loyalty, management of commodity logistics. Mechanisms of formation of incidents, their appointments to check to the authorized employees, control of the course of check are configured.
Report forms of statistics of wrongful acts, results of investigation of incidents are developed. Visualization tools are configured. The created reports allow business heads to make reasoned decisions on necessary measures, including for correction of the existing processes. Now the retailer can keep under control different categories of losses (for the reason of both fraud, and violation of the set business processes) on all retail network.
Antifraud system it is created on the platform of the software package RAID of WeDo Technologies company.
Project Results
Modern methods of data processing in a combination with the acquired base of algorithms of identification of fraud allow to see what for the different reasons was hidden from looks of staff of the company. Detection of schemes not known earlier and development of a method of identification known, but is result before of imperceptible. We constantly improve models that allows a system to remain the relevant instrument of reduction of losses in the conditions of the changing landscape of risks.
