For pharmaceutical company "Gideon Richter Rus" specialists of LWCOM system integrator implemented the project on upgrade of network on the equipment of Cisco Systems producer. Within the project the customer set the following tasks which needed to be solved:

  • Organize the selected kernel level of network on two platforms;
  • Carry out upgrade of network equipment of the access level;
  • Carry out upgrade of the scheme of interaction of two territorially spaced platforms via the channels organized on the Internet.

For the solution of assigned tasks it was offered to use the equipment Cisco. At the kernel level two Cisco switches Catalyst of a series of the 4500th, everyone with basic functionality of routing of IP BASE and a connectivity of standby unit of a power supply were implemented. On the central platform switches are assembled in a cluster on VSS technology which allows to carry out software updatings on core switches without interruption in providing service. On switches of both the central, and remote platform segmentation and routing using the EIGRP protocol for contact with the channel-forming equipment is configured.

In the course of upgrade of the access level switches were separated into 2 views: for connection of servers and for connection of the PC of users and other devices. For the solution of a problem of upgrade the Cisco switches Catalyst of a series of the 2960th assembled in stacks that allowed to provide fault tolerance were also used and to simplify administration.

The problem of upgrade of the scheme of interaction between platforms is solved by means of Cisco ISR routers of the second generation. Between routers of one model between platforms the protected tunnels through the Internet on data transmission channels, provided by telecom operators are configured. Over the protected tunnels the dynamic routing protocol EIGRP which provides transfer of routes between platforms and balancing of traffic on a condition is activated. When using the EIGRP protocol fast switching to reserve lines in case of failure of data transmission channel or the device is provided.
