2016: General Satellite — GS H5912

At the beginning of July, 2016 the GS Group holding provided the first IPTV prefix under General Satellite — GS H5912 brand. The digital device of the Russian production with support of IP television opens for users access to digital TV channels in high quality and offers a set of popular services and functions. An exit of a prefix is designed to reduce dependence of the Russian market of interactive TV and the market of the equipment for telecasting on import products.

Domestic manufacturers electronic engineers have necessary competences and production capabilities for active participation in the course of import substitution of consumer electronics in Russia. GS H5912 IPTV prefix of domestic production are a worthy alternative to the western and Asian analogs on technical characteristics and cost, capable to compete with them not only on Russian, but also at the international level. Increase in a share of such products in the domestic market will allow to reduce volumes of import of the foreign equipment.

GS H5912 IPTV prefix is intended for the organization of TV broadcasting in IP networks (IPTV/OTT) and depending on the used software can be used by Internet service providers, OTT operators or content aggregators. First of all the device under the General Satellite brand is focused on IPTV providers, in the near future it will be available to suppliers of OTT-services.

The device of completely Russian production GS H5912 was developed within half a year by specialists of a research and development center of software products and consumer GS Labs electronics. For short term the prefix was delivered on production and today is completely ready to mass release at capacities of the innovation cluster Technopolice GS. GS H5912 contains a full range of demanded functions: opens access to digital TV channels in high quality, supports stream video and VoD service ("by video on demand"). The equipment reproduces all modern audio-and video formats, supports subtitlings, setup of images, the choice of an audiotrack and work with playlists. GS H5912 can be connected as to TVs of latest models on HDMI, and the previous generations — by means of the RCA interface. In the new General Satellite prefix the powerful MStar K2 processor is used. RAM and a flash memory of the device — 256 MB. The prefix has the L/R audioconnector, exits of HDMI and CVBS, supports USB interfaces 2.0, Ethernet 100 Base-T for connection to network and IR for connection of the portable IR receiver. The first batch of the new set-top box is already available at the strategic partner of GS Group — Tsifra company, the Russian software developer and integrator.
