Content

On July 18, 2016 the Martin Telematics company announced start of network for Internet of Things on the platform of energy efficient technology of a distant range of LPWAN (Low-Power Wide-Area Network) in the city of Shymkent, by request of Vodnye resursy Marketing LLP.

Project Tasks

Within the state program on energy efficiency of the Republic of Kazakhstan the MARTIN Telematics Asia company is going to develop network for Internet of Things in other megalopolises of the country: To Karaganda, Almaty and Astana until the end of 2016. In addition to start of network in these cities it is going to set multiresource accounting on objects of the Ministry for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, kindergartens and schools and also in apartment houses with assistance of the local servicing organizations.

Project Progress

Works on start of network were carried out in the conditions of urban development and the mountain hilly area of Central Asia. Engineers needed two days on preparatory work:

  • the choice of optimal positions for stations
  • obtaining allowing documents.

Seven more days - on deployment of infrastructure of network:

  • installation of stations,
  • testing
  • start of network in operation.

Start result: the network for Internet of Things covered 100% of the territory of Shymkent, including districts of adjacent settlements and the airport.

The device, most remote from the accepting station, – the all-house metering device of water consumption of a residential array Bozaryk. It is located at distance of 8.5 km from the next base station, placed in a protective metal box behind the hill, at the same time steadily transfers the indications to network.

Project Results

Start is executed by developer company Martin of Telematics and official representation in the region – "STRIZH Telematics Asia". The pilot project is implemented with assistance of the EFL Metering engineering company.

Action of telematic network STRIZh in Kazakhstan began with Shymkent. This southern megalopolis builds the Smart City (Smart City) on the platform of wireless LPWAN technology. Capacity of network at the beginning of the project will reach 2 million devices working at the same time for housing and public utilities or other fields of activity. Metering devices:

  • waters,
  • gas,
  • electric power,
  • it is warm,
  • parking duration,
  • agricultural-sensors
  • others.

Internet of Things and the Smart City are not the refrigerator posting photos of your products in social networks. The main thing in the concept of Internet of Things – an opportunity when using technologies to solve routine tasks quicker and more effectively. When you do not write out meter readings or to fill inconvenient forms to pay utility payments. For this purpose we also came to Kazakhstan.

Deployment in Shymkent networks for Internet of Things only the beginning for Kazakhstan. During 2016 we are going to cover other large megalopolises: Karaganda, Almaty and Astana. Possibilities of LPWAN technology allow us to increase quickly the capacity of network, and the high penetration of a signal simplifies start on a difficult landscape with big height difference and also in megalopolises with a large number of concrete buildings.
