Before putting our software on the market, we needed to protect our applications from a reverse engineering and from cracking. As we work at very dynamic market of media services and technologies of broadcasting, we should deal with more and more technically grounded clients, and an opportunity to offer them the additional security level and additional conveniences of implementation of our software packages became one of the main factors in the choice of the solution for licensing. One of advantages of our On Demand of the platform consists in flexibility and scalability, and we wanted to receive the same flexibility and scalability and in the solution for protection and licensing. Use of Sentinel RMS and EMS helped us with implementation of this task. Jeremy Courtney, the head of division of Media Processing Software in SAM |
Project Results
The solution Sentinel RMS allows the customer to propose and generate different models of licensing and an option of batching for the products within the platform created by it. In addition to options of batching and sale of products, the solution Sentinel RMS helps to protect the intellectual property which is the cornerstone of applications, to reduce risks of cracking of these applications.
The solution Sentinel EMS helps to manage permissions to separate software products in a packet, to manage internal transactions of licensing, including - to process orders for software and to activate software for which the customer got permission.
SAM implemented the server of the licenses Sentinel EMS in work of the SAM store shop to provide to online customers of a possibility of self-service, including a possibility of payment, automatic exercise of orders, activation of licenses, work with modifications and updates.
After payment cleaning, the solution Sentinel EMS issues permission and returns to the customer an activation code. Gemalto provided the Salesforce.com Connector key using which it will be in the future possible to integrate Sentinel EMS with the CRM system of SAM.
Changes in work of SAM are very demonstrative and precisely characterize what today can be observed in the markets of suppliers of devices. To remain in vanguard and to be ahead of the competitors, vendors should think in the long term and to accurately understand advantages of a business model which cornerstone the software and also the potential impact of similar transformation on pricing and on batching models is. Cooperation between Gemalto and SAM reflects importance of licensing and management of the rights to software products for those companies which would like to achieve growth and to ensure competitive advantage.
