Siemon PowerMax PDU

The Siemon company, the developer of solutions for network infrastructure, announced in August, 2016 expansion of a line of blocks of power distribution PowerMax and adding in a lineup of intellectual versions of devices. New intelligent PDU blocks provide information on energy consumption in real time with different degree of detail depending on model. Application of similar solutions allows to reduce costs for the electric power, to reduce time of idle times and to improve an indicator of energy efficiency of PUE.

Intelligent blocks of power distribution PowerMax are offered in versions on one or three phases to satisfy different requirements of data processing centers on powering of active network equipment in racks. PDU blocks have uniform input, input cords are equipped with forks of the NEMA or IEC standard. Models are expected different currents and tension. Output slots depending on model are expected 120 V, 208 V or 230 V; cumulative power is from 1.8 kW to 22 kW.

Thanks to the built-in intuitive web interface intelligent PDU blocks allow to trace, collect and transfer data on the consumed energy and state of environment. On the basis of this information owners and managing directors of data processing centers can make decisions on redistribution of the equipment, optimize energy consumption, prevent emergence of the problems connected with excessive or spasmodic energy consumption, insufficient extent of use of the equipment, an overload, excess cooling and other possible undesirable phenomena.

The Siemon company offers different versions of blocks of power distribution: models for monitoring allow to trace energy consumption at the level of devices, intellectual models collect information on each slot separately, the switched blocks allow to manage each slot individually, and the managed models give the chance both monitoring, and management at the level of certain slots. Intelligent PowerMax blocks have advanced functionality, including a possibility of sharing of the IP address several devices (blocks can be assembled in a loop, having attached up to 4 dependent Slave devices to the main Master device). The USB port for a software update or installation of the adapter of connection to a wireless network is provided in the unit housing, there are ports for connection of temperature sensors, humidity and other parameters of the environment which need to be traced in internal space of a hardware cabinet.

All models of PowerMax blocks are offered in configurations for vertical or horizontal installation and provide the accuracy of data on energy consumption at the level of ±1% (the best indicator in the industry). The powder covering is applied on the body of devices; internal construction is most reliable and based on soldered contacts. Models for horizontal installation are expected the size of 482.6 mm and without effort are established in any standard 19-inch rack or a cabinet. Vertical versions of blocks are installed in the zones Zero-U between the next cabinets or between an internal mounting profile of a cabinet and its external wall as, for example, in the VersaPOD or V800 models of Siemon company.
