Specialists carried out Alan IT by SAM Virtualization Engagement in Altair group – the project according to virtual environments.
The Altair group is one of the largest distributors of alcoholic products in the Russian market. Altair is provided in 7 regions of Russia in this connection the company has the distributed IT infrastructure.
The IT department defined the potential direction for optimization of infrastructure – development of technologies of virtualization in the company. A part of infrastructure already worked in virtual environment – in the company 3 virtual servers are deployed, different technologies of virtualization were used.
"We started formation of the plan for upgrade of IT infrastructure of the company, in particular on implementation of technologies of virtualization, besides, we prepared for the next purchase of the software. We needed to develop the optimal scheme on purchase and also to carry out the analysis of infrastructure regarding opportunities for migration to virtual environment. After the meeting and negotiations with specialists ALAN IT the decision to begin with the project according to the analysis of virtual environment was made." - Kablukov Roman, the technical director of Altair Group.
The project was carried out in all legal entities belonging to Altair Group. During it the exact number of missing licenses was set, the list of recommendations about elimination of vulnerabilities of the company and to increase in its SAM level is submitted and also options of further actions of the company are worked out. Besides, the exact assessment which showed real advantages of virtualization to Altair Group in the conditions of geographical distribution of branches was given. It showed specific benefit for the company in financial expression and also a potential benefit from optimization of working time of IT employees. For example, economy on energy saving and hardware costs due to transition to means of virtualization will make more than 1 million rubles.
According to the results of the project risks, obligations and opportunities for the existing license agreements of the company, the current provision of licensing, the recommendation about optimization of licenses and also inventory results were in detail described. Respect for license purity will allow to minimize legal, technical, and, as a result, financial risks of the company.
