MSU, Sberbank and DIT of Moscow integrate the bank card, the record book and the admission in the university

In August, 2016 MSU announced the beginning of use of the multifunction campus card for employees and students of university.

The project is executed in interaction with DIT of Moscow, Sberbank and MasterCard.

Created based on the social card of the Muscovite, it represents the personified Sberbank Card based on MasterCard payment system. Allows to use the banking application on the campus card it as the payment instrument, including – for contactless payment. On it it is possible to transfer salary to teachers and a grant to students.

In addition, the card provides to the owner access to a number of electronic services MSU. With its help it is possible to enter university buildings through electronic tourniquets, to order books in library via the infomats located in the territory of the body of university, to learn the schedule, to request references from dean's office, etc. Further, as envisioned by university, the map should become the full student ID card and the record book.

The campus card and the infomat using which students can use MSU services

The social card as a basis of campus provides to the holder access to the relevant city services. It can be used as the preferential ticket on public transport as the policy of compulsory health insurance, to receive discounts in trade and service companies within the affiliate program of the social card.

The pilot project of campus cards started at economic and legal faculties and also at the Higher school of the state audit of MSU. The rector of MSU Viktor Sadovnichii noted that further the university expects to expand scales of its use. The president of Sberbank German Gref reported that the bank is going to do further similar projects about what agreements with other universities are already signed.

Viktor Sadovnichii told TAdviser that the main financing sources of the project – Sberbank and the Government of Moscow. MSU made investments too, he added.

The volume of costs for the project as of August, 2016 - about 40 million rubles, Sadovnichiy says. German Gref explained TAdviser that main articles of expenses are an infrastructure part, development of the concept of the project and integration.

According to the head of DIT of Moscow Artem Yermolaev, in plans - in addition to MasterCard to connect to the project and Mir payment system: negotiations with the purpose to adapt it for participation in the project are conducted. Yermolaev also noted that students make a significant part of all users of the social card of the Muscovite. The campus card is issued on the new platform that gives a recording capability of bigger number of applications without recard issue that considerably expands its functionality.
