Bashneft will create a computing cluster for the seismic service

The Bashneft oil company will create a computing cluster on which the specialized software of Paradigm multi-national company will begin to be operated for the seismic service. Information about carrying out the tender for delivery of the corresponding server hardware appeared on the portal of state procurements.

Let's note that in the oil industry seismic services, as a rule, are engaged in studying of the structure of bowels of the earth and investigation of fields using seismic waves from earthquakes and artificial sources of the fluctuations caused, for example, by controlled explosions.

The starting price of the contract is determined at the level of one million p58.9. From them p7.7 of one million is the share of the switches Mellanox, p0.8 to one million — on "iron" Cisco, one million p50.4 — on HP servers and DWH of Panasas. In the tender documentation it is said that a lineup, the configuration and technical characteristics of the purchased equipment are defined by requirements of the IT infrastructure which is already existing in the company and also its internal regulating documents.

Order taking from applicants will last till September 13, 2016. On their assessment and summing up organizers allocated for themselves exactly a month — the winner will be defined on October 14.

Bashneft could not answer with CNews the questions concerning what software of Paradigm will begin to be used on a cluster and on what equipment seismic service it works^[1] now^[2].

In tender documents the description of a purpose of software of Paradigm in the project confines to a phrase that it will begin to serve "for optimal focusing and positioning of seismic reflections in deep area".

The seismic service of Bashneft will receive in the order a new cluster on "iron" of HP and Mellanox In technical specifications Ufa-45, Bashneft Ufaneftekhim branch, DPC of PJSC ANC Bashneft appears a shipping address of "iron". Most likely, it is about the corporate data center of the company put into operation in December, 2011. (In Bashneft could not neither confirm, nor disprove CNews this assumption.), according to the company, within 14 months were engaged in its construction Sitronics Bashkortostan and Asteros. Capital investments in the project made one million p342.76.

The local computer network and storage systems of DPC were based on Cisco and EMC technologies, power supply is constructed on solutions APC and Schneider Electric.
