2017: Ideco Selecta release announcement

On February 9, 2017, Ideco announced the release of the content filtering system for the second half of February 2017.

Major changes:

• Improved content filtering system base.
• Transparent authorization of Active Directory users when directly connecting to a proxy server.
• Improved configuration interface: networking and integration with AD.
• Increased speed of content filtering and the server as a whole.

2016: Ideco Selecta Release

On September 2, 2016, Ideco announced the release of an upgraded version of the Ideco Selecta. The software has a function of integration with AD for user authorization.

Authorization takes place using an agent program that is installed on all computers in the domain through group policies.

2015: Ideco Selecta

On May 29, 2015, Ideco Selecta is an Internet content filtering system.

Ideco Selecta Content Internet Filtering System is a software solution for high-speed traffic filtering in networks with a bandwidth of up to 10 Gbps. It operates in transparent mode (network bridge) and allows integration into the existing network infrastructure without reconfiguring routers and network equipment.

Ideco Selecta Capabilities

• URL filtering using the Ideco Cloud WebFilter cloud database ‒ more than 140 site categories, 500 million. URL, updating the database in real time.
• Morphological analysis of web pages by dictionary with the ability to assign weight to individual words and phrases. The system has built-in dictionaries for blocking extremist materials, promoting drugs, pornography, and other unwanted content.
• Block the download of files by extensions and MIME types.
• Filtering search queries with the ability to forcibly enable secure search on sites of popular search engines.
• Filtering HTTP and encrypted HTTPS traffic.
• Filter infected, virus-spreading, phishing, and potentially dangerous sites on a real-time, cloud-based database.
• Block IP, networks, protocols (including GRE, which is required to bypass filtering using third-party VPN services) using the built-in firewall.

Integration capabilities in IT infrastructure

• Ideco Selecta operates in bridge mode, without requiring changes to routes in the current network.
• It is possible to authorize users using Kerberos (via Active Directory): manage access to Internet resources for such users and maintain web reporting on them.
• Ideco Selecta can work both on a dedicated server and on a virtual machine hypervisor.

The system complies with the requirements, recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for content filtration systems and ensures compliance with the requirements of the Russian legislation on the protection of children and protection against extremism, in particular, Federal Law No. 436 "On the Protection of Children from Information, harmful to their health and development "from 29.12.10, taking into account the Federal Law No. 139" On Amendments to the Federal Law "On the Protection of Children from Information Harmful to Their Health and Development" from 28.07.12.

The system can work with any registers and databases of prohibited resources, including the promising NSOR register (resources incompatible with the goals of education), the development of which is carried out by the Ministry of Education in conjunction with the Ministry of Communications.
