Content

Internet of Things Cloud Service (IoT Cloud Service) is service for simplification of interaction by means of virtualization of devices, stream and predictive analytics.

2018: "Smart" functions of the Industry 4.0

On February 21, 2018 the Oracle corporation provided possibilities of the Industry 4.0 for Cloud Oracle Internet of Things (IoT) services. They will allow modern business to make production processes by more intellectual and quicker to react to market changes. Advanced monitors and analysts of the offer will help the organizations to increase efficiency, to cut down expenses and to find new sources of income due to expanded tracking of assets, employees and vehicles, functions of identification of problems in real time and predictive analytics.

Thanks to opportunities of use of augmented reality, machine vision, digital doubles and data analysis methods, Oracle IoT Cloud services allow the organizations to gain a profound impression about efficiency of assets, machines and the equipment, workers, vehicles to optimize the supply chains, production processes and logistics, to reduce time to market of new products and to involve new business models.

"IoT is the good tool for disclosure of potential of the Industry 4.0 providing visibility of processes in real time and giving opportunities of rapid response at each stage of production process — from supply of raw materials before sending products to customers. Oracle gives to the organizations an opportunity to create the intellectual enterprises and to create modern supply chains with seamless models of interaction between business applications and the physical equipment. Receiving in real time data streams, complemented with predictive analytics, IoT-applications provide implementation of the intellectual business processes accelerating an investment payback (ROI)".

This expanded offer followed the announcement of functions of artificial intelligence, a digital chain of the carried-out tasks (digital thread) and digital doubles for a supply chain and also industry solutions for Oracle IoT Cloud. Oracle IoT Cloud services are offered both as SaaS, and as PaaS that provides high extent of adaptation for the most exacting projects.

Oracle is going to add the listed features in all Oracle IoT Cloud Applications cloud applicaions — Monitoring of assets (Asset Monitoring), Monitoring of production (Production Monitoring), Monitoring of transport (Fleet Monitoring), Monitoring of personnel (Connected Worker) and Monitoring of the service equipment (Service Monitoring for Connected Assets):

  • digital doubles (Digital Twin): allow remote users to control a status of assets and to prevent failures before their emergence and also to execute scenarios "that if" in the context of business processes. Digital doubles give to the organizations a new operational paradigm of interaction with the physical world that allows to lower operating and capital expenditure, to minimize a downtime and to optimize efficiency of use of assets;
  • augmented reality (Augmented Reality): gives to operators and managing directors of manufacturing enterprises an opportunity to browse operational indicators and information on the corresponding equipment in the context of physical assets for faster troubleshooting and maintenance of operations on service. Besides, use of augmented reality in learning process reduces quantity of errors and reduces a set-up time and also increases productivity of users;
  • machine vision (Machine Vision): provides detailed not intrusive visual inspection that allows to reveal the defects invisible with the naked eye, and at a high speed and big scale. After fast survey at detection of anomalies and errors mechanisms of machine vision start the corresponding corrective actions;
  • the automated methods of data analysis (Auto Data Science): the automated methods of processing and data analysis and algorithms of artificial intelligence focused on specific objectives of business constantly analyze use of assets, availability of a production equipment, production volume and product quantity, perform inventory, estimate efficiency of use of the equipment and also control safety of personnel, predict potential problems before their emergence. It allows users to see performance measures at each stage of modern supply chains. They can also sit over a specific problem in any place, without attracting for this purpose the whole army of specialists analysts.

Oracle IoT Cloud allows the companies to control capital-intensive assets for reduction of losses because of idle times and reduction in cost of service and also to keep track of efficiency of use of assets for obtaining exact analytical data on their lifecycle and depreciation that increases efficiency of the procurements conducted by the enterprises. The large volume of the data generated by sensors in products allows the organizations to offer the products as service, to obtain information on that, how exactly clients use products and to provide the improved services with additional services which can become a new source of income.[1]

2017: Artificial intelligence for "teapots"

At the end of August, 2017 Oracle announced expansion of functionality of Internet of Things Cloud service. The main innovation is connected with the fact that industrial enterprises will be able quickly and just to implement algorithms of the artificial intelligence (AI).

If earlier use of solutions AI in Oracle Internet of Things Cloud required knowledge in the field of industrial programming, then now it works by the principle of Drag-and-drop (intuitive transfer of objects), the global vice president for development of IoT-applications Bhagat Nainani explained to the VentureBeat edition.

Machine learning and artificial intelligence became completely built-in functions. You do not need to be an expert in applied mathematics and to implement it many years. You can use previously developed algorithms optimized for data streams of Internet of Things, for each application separately — he noted.

Oracle Internet of Things Cloud service, using information which is obtained earlier and it is fixed in real time, serves for accomplishment of such tasks AI as detection of deviations in work of industrial equipment and prediction of failure of the equipment and also supply chain management.

For intellectual monitoring of the equipment, identification of errors before their emergence and repair of devices on the Internet or directly on places, using possibilities of augmented reality, Oracle released the Digital Field Service system.

The Digital Fleet Management service providing control of deliveries of products in real time, risk management and synchronization of logistic transactions became one more new Oracle Internet of Things Cloud component.

2016

On September 22, 2016 Oracle announced upgrade of Internet of Things Cloud Service (IoT Cloud Service).

By means of Internet of Things Cloud Service (IoT Cloud Service) of the organization can develop ready IoT-applications, like Asset Monitoring, Production Monitoring, Fleet Monitoring or Connected Worker.

The cloud service of IoT Cloud Service by means of virtualization of devices, stream and predictive analytics provides the simplified interaction. Service integrates the "data in the movement" received from devices, given in ERP- and CRM-applications and helps to be integrated with business applications of Oracle Service Cloud, Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle JD Edwards and Oracle PeopleSoft.
