2017: European GNSS Agency

According to the report of the European Agency of the Global navigation satellite systems (European GNSS Agency) issued in May, 2017, the number of devices with navigation function around the world by the end of 2017 will reach 5.8 billion. Nearly 400 million devices from them will be installed in cars. Thanks to development of the systems of transport telematics and autonomous driving and also obligatory installation of the systems of the emergency reaction at accidents (ERA-GLONASS, e-call) in a number of the countries, the number of devices with function of navigation annually will grow the next 5 years in cars on average for 11.4%.

Only in Russia more than 1.5 million cars annually annually are on sale, on each of which since January 1, 2017 the device of the ERA-GLONASS system should be installed. In general the number of devices in 2025 will exceed 9 billion. The market of services using navigation information will grow the next several years even quicker, with an annual average speed of 20% and more depending on a segment.

The size of the market of services on the basis of a geolocation (LBS) in the world by 2022 will grow to $61.8 billion. It is noted in the report of Allied Market Research. Annual average rate of a gain of the market according to them – 26.6%. The driver of the market – the increasing number of the mobile computerized devices, and a market trend – the growing popularity among the enterprises of mobile advertizing based on close presence of the client (data from the website of GLONASS / GNSS-Forum Association).

2016: Forecast of 2014 - 2020

According to forecasts of Allied Market Research, annual average rates of a gain of sizes of the market of commercial telematics during the period from 2014 to 2020 are expected at the level of 18.4%. By 2020 its volume will reach $49.1 billion Segment of aftermarket (installation of the telematic equipment after acquisition of the car) will continue to remain the biggest generator of income, bringing more than 50% of a comprehensive income till 2020[1].

Analysts of Berg Insight reported that the quantity of installed systems of monitoring of cars in Europe in the fourth quarter was 2015 5.3 million units, and by 2020 –[2] will increase to 10.6 million units[3].

In North America the number of the cars connected to management systems for vehicle fleets in the fourth quarter reached of 2015 5.8 million units. Annual average rate of a gain of the market is expected at the level of 17%. By 2020 market size will be 12.7 million units.

In January, 2016 analysts of Business Insider published a research in which selected 25 most high-tech trends. So, in 2015 about 35%-40% of the new cars deliverable at the USA were connected to the Internet. It for 23% exceeds indicators for the beginning of 2015. Two thirds of the new cars deliverable at the USA in 2016 will be connected to the Internet. 37% of recent buyers of a car in China, the USA, Germany are ready to purchase the machine of other producer if the last offers the mobile Internet onboard, media services and different applications. Still a year ago polls showed that only 20% are ready to change the car for more technological[4].

The ABI Research research company made the forecast according to which in 73 million cars in 2020 services of commercial telematics will be used. Analysts of Business Insider c, that annual average growth rates of market sizes (GAGR) of the connected cars during the period from 2015 to 2020 will be 45% annually that 10 times higher GAGR of normal cars.

According to the research Gemalto Netsize Guide 2015, in several years cars will require more often connection to network. 39% of people select importance of the built-in technologies in the car and only 14% appreciate the high power and convenience of management more. The size of the market of the connected cars by 2025 will be $141 billion.
