On September 29, 2016 SAP SE announced implementation in IT structure of Trenitalia company of devices and technology of Internet of Things.
Project Tasks
The Trenitalia company manages almost 30-thousand park of locomotives, electric trains, passenger and commodity cars, provides the movement more than 8 thousand trains daily.
In 2014 Trenitalia together with SAP began work on creation of model of dynamic service, implementing the SAP solution Predictive Maintenance and Service for the analysis of indications of sensors and remote observation of the equipment.

Project Results
The system created for Trenitalia using predictive analytics of the SAP HANA platform processes huge volumes of the operational data arriving from sensors and intelligent devices in real time.
A system creates forecast model for machine learning and provides the closed integration into business applications that allows to adjust if necessary plans for maintenance and to avoid unplanned idle times. Using the SAP solution specialists of Trenitalia can correlate state-of-health data of crucial nodes (for example, engines, accumulators, brake systems) to lifecycle models and standards of wear.
