UniSim Design - Software for modeling of technology processes on industrial enterprises.


UniSim Design software with opportunities of industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is a part of a global initiative of Honeywell Connected Plant which integrates in itself unique industry experience of Honeywell, the software and digital technologies, for example, the cloud solutions directed to reliability augmentation, profitability and security of transactions of customers.

Given software from Honeywell use in the activity more than 250 companies in the different countries of the world representing the oil and gas, oil processing, petrochemical, chemical and power industries.

The packet of UniSim Design helps engineers with creation of stationary and dynamic models for design and optimization of plants and management systems, the analysis of emergency situations and risks, assessment of security systems, monitoring of working indicators, troubleshooting, improvement of operational qualities, planning of business and asset management. Advantages of the systems of modeling of technology processes are also proved in practice: they allow to increase efficiency of design by 20% at the expense of the management tools, best in the class, workflows and to achieve economy of capital costs of 30% due to proper material selection at design of security systems.

History

2017: Hyperion Group is distributor of UniSim Design Suite in Russia

In October 20127 years the division "Industrial automation" of Honeywell company and Hyperion Group company signed the three-year agreement on expansion of a range of the solutions sold in Russia. Under the terms of the contract, Hyperion, the authorized distributor of products of Honeywell, will perform sale and technical support of Honeywell Connected Plant UniSim Design Suite — software for modeling of technology processes on industrial enterprises which allows to optimize design and the developed solutions.

The packet of UniSim Design helps engineers with creation of stationary and dynamic models for design and optimization of plants and management systems, the analysis of emergency situations and risks, assessment of security systems, monitoring of working indicators, troubleshooting, improvement of operational qualities, planning of business and asset management.

The cooperation increase with our checked partner of Hyperion Group aimed at distribution of the UniSim Design software package in Russia will help further promotion of Honeywell Connected Plant technologies in the domestic market — Alexey Zenkevich, the chief executive of division "Industrial automation" of Honeywell in Russia, Belarus and Armenia said.

2016: UniSim Design of version 450

On September 28, 2016 the division "Industrial automation" announced Honeywell corporations release of a packet of UniSim Design of version 450.

The release of software of modeling of technology processes on industrial enterprises will help to increase efficiency of design and to optimize the developed solutions.

The long-term relations and close interaction with customers helped us to make UniSim Design packet one of the most powerful and useful solutions for technical modeling in the industry. The product was released more than ten years ago, from now on we constantly study opinions of customers to develop the new features focused on the solution of real problems which they face. The last innovations provided to versions 450 of a packet of UniSim Design are a striking example of such approach.

Simulars of technology processes help engineers to create stationary and dynamic models for design and optimization of plants and management systems, the analysis of emergency situations and risks, assessment of security systems, monitoring of working indicators, troubleshooting, improvement of operational qualities, planning of business and asset management. Properties of the systems of modeling of technology processes are proved in practice: they allow to increase efficiency of design by 20% at the expense of the management tools, best in the class, workflows, to achieve economy of capital costs of 30% due to proper material selection at design of security systems.

The version of R450 affects several important areas, in particular:

  • Security. Solutions for security are complemented with the system of pressure release UniSim PRS — the commercial version of the internal tool checked in practice which was created by Honeywell of UOP, the leading developer and the licensor of technology processes for oil and gas processing and petrochemical industries. The UniSim PRS system found application in thousands of safety devices and pipelines of industrial equipment of Honeywell of UOP. Besides, the version contains improvements for the module UniSim Blowdown which was developed together with the large oil company and is for the first time provided in November, 2015. This cooperation provided to division of Honeywell "Industrial automation" access to broader spectrum of data and extensive opportunities for verification of the solution in actual practice. The improved version of the module helps to determine different parameters of blowing-off networks and to select the corresponding structural materials according to the industry standard of API 521. The product UniSim Flare used for determination of parameters of the new and operated torch systems — from pressure release devices to torch tips, was adapted for the new platform and improved for improvement of characteristics, data visualization and the reporting and also for automation of different scenarios.

  • Heat exchangers. The heat exchanger model, in particular — UniSim Design packet integration tools with products of Heat Transfer Research (HTRI) corporation is improved. In December Honeywell till 2025 extended the duration of the agreement about technology cooperation with HTRI, the leading world company which is engaged in researches and deliveries of technologies of management of a heat transfer and also the software and services. Within this alliance HTRI will continue to use a packet of UniSim Heat Exchanger, and Honeywell will be able to sell and license (within the system of authorization of licenses of Honeywell) the products HTRI Xchanger Suite and HTRI XSimOp. Integration of these technologies guarantees to customers access to the widest range of tools in the industry for calculation, design and modeling of heat exchangers.

  • Management of product flows and underwater transactions. The version of R450 of a packet of UniSim Design allows to create stationary and dynamic models of pumps for multiphase mixes (MPP), providing support of development of technologies for increase in pressure of multiphase flows. Pumps for multiphase mixes are especially important for management of flows at underwater transactions as they allow to increase commercial effectiveness of production wells. The model of operation of pipelines was expanded due to adding of a possibility of calculation of a sandy erosion and techniques of forecasting of formation of hydrates and ice. At last, in the new version import of characteristic data on pressure, volume and temperature (PVT) from the product CALSEP PVTSim in a packet of UniSim Design is simplified and their visualization is improved that allowed to eliminate the need for manual entry of data and to reduce the probability of introduction of errors.

  • Support of processes of oil processing. For simplification of modeling of processes of oil processing the new version of a packet of UniSim Design includes the module of the analysis of crude oil providing import of data on tests of raw materials, more than 100 predetermined properties used in oil processing processes and also a set of the standard and configured rules of mixing. In addition to other improvements, the new version also supports cloud solutions of Honeywell by means of which continuous collecting of production data using the advanced analysis techniques and also solutions for optimization and production planning, for the purpose of receiving estimates and drawing up recommendations of opportunities of increase in efficiency and reduction of time of unplanned idle times is performed.
