Project

In Sberbank the project of workflow automation, largest in Russia, is planned

Customers: Sberbank of the Russian Federation

Moscow; Financial services, investments and audit

Product: Projects - EDMS - stream recognition

Project date: 2017/03

Sberbank in 2017 is going to start the project on creation of a centralized system of electronic document management. The source well familiar with plans of bank told TAdviser about it in November, 2016. According to him, the bank did not decide even on the choice of the platform based on which will create such system, and communicates with different decision makers, including Docsvision Dell EMC IBM OpenText , etc.

As the main platform of electronic document management in Sberbank Docsvision is used. Its implementation began in central office in 2010 then within several years a system was replicated in territorial banks. A system has a distributed architecture – in the form of separate installations in central office and territorial banks.

As of 2015, in total in Docsvision about 100 thousand users in Sberbank work

Creation of a centralized system based on the Docsvision platform – one of options which are considered by Sberbank, tells a source of TAdviser. However there is no confidence that this solution will be able to meet requirements of bank to the centralized platform, he adds.

Sberbank exposes very strict technical requirements to a centralized system: it should support work to 100 thousand active users, - the interlocutor of TAdviser says. – One of conditions is existence of reference projects in which the system expected such loading already works. At the same time the bank wants to study not just abstractly the project, and to communicate to the representative of customer company. As far as I know, in Russia there are no similar projects yet.

The electronic document management system with comparable number of users - about 100 thousand - is unrolled in the Russian Railway. The solution for the Russian Railway was developed by TEKORA company, having used as the platform software products of SAP. As well as the existing system of Sberbank, a system in the Russian Railway has a distributed architecture and is implemented in the form of several installations.

In October, 2016 Docsvision announced plans in the nearest future to bring the new platform of the same name focused on the large organizations to the market. It is capable to be scaled without performance penalty at simultaneous operation up to 50 thousand users. The normal Docsvision platform, told TAdviser in the company, about 5 thousand users support simultaneous operation.

In a new solution Docsvision provided also support of the system software with the open code: DBMS PostgreSQL and OS Linux (at the initial stage – OS Astra Linux and Alt Linux). According to a source TAdviser, Sberbank shows interest in the scenario of replacement of Oracle DBMS by PostgreSQL in the workflow system. "Save millions, so, 15 dollars are, probably, an interesting option for any large company", - the interlocutor of TAdviser argues.

It is possible to call support of the open source software by SED/ESM developers a world trend. At the beginning of November, 2016, for example, too reported Dell EMC that in connection with requests of users the new version of its ECM platform – Documentum 7.3 - supports PostgreSQL DBMS, OS CentOS and Ubuntu.

In Sberbank at the time of the publication of material could not provide TAdviser comments on plans for centralization of the workflow system. Docsvision and Digital Design company implementing this platform in Sberbank preferred not to comment on its opportunities and the outlined project.

Sberbank headed for centralization of IT systems a few years ago. In 2015 the bank completed the large-scale program "Centralization 2.0" within which centralized all key banking systems.
