Toshiba a TC series — a line of the IC of drivers of electric motors.
2018: TC78B025FTG
On June 15, 2018 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company provided the IC of the driver of three-phase beskollektorny TC78B025FTG engines with function of regulation of rotating speed with a feedback. The device is intended for work as a part of small fans for servers, household appliances and industrial equipment.
As noted in Toshiba company, cooling fans for servers and other equipment should be small and have the high frequency of rotation supported with a permanent accuracy. Constancy of rotating speed optimum is reached at the expense of a rotating speed return signal. It allows to suppress the rotating speed fluctuations caused by supply variation and loadings. For this purpose it was required to use microcomputers. The solution of Toshiba provides flexible management with rotating speed without external microcomputers due to use of the internal non-volatile memory (NVM). Thanks to it configuring of a system becomes simpler and functioning with rotating speed of the electric motor from hundreds to tens of thousands of revolutions per minute is ensured, especially when using the technology of control of Toshiba Intelligent Phase Control electric motors (InPAC) implementing effective management with the broad range of rotating speeds without the need for adjustment.
The device works from the power source with tension from 4.5 to 16 V and provides a sine signal with the angle of switching of 150 degrees. Resistance abroach (standard value of 0.2 Ohms, the amount for an upper and lower shoulder) reduces own heating of the IC during the work, thereby allowing to use engines with higher current. For regulation of rotating speed the simple PWM signal or an analog input of tension is used. The built-in systems of protection include shutdown when overheating, overcurrent protection and detection of blocking of the electric motor. The device is issued in the VQFN24 body the sizes of 4 mm x 4 mm x 0.9 mm.
In addition in the IC TC78B025FTG the management system with one Hall sensor and a management system without use of tokochuvstvitelny resistors – the expanded system of determination of current is implemented, (Advanced Current Detection System, ACDS) that allows to reduce quantity of external components and to save the place on the printed circuit board, noted in Toshiba.
Serial production of devices began in April, 2018.
2017: TC78B015FTG и TC78B015AFTG
The Toshiba Electronics Europe company provided on November 23, 2017 two ICs of drivers of three-phase beskollektorny electric motors. The TC78B015FTG driver is intended for devices with the supply voltage of 12 V, and TC78B015AFTG — 24 V. ICs ensure functioning of small electric motors of fans with high frequency of rotation and are suitable for application in household appliances and industrial equipment.
The provided ICs of drivers Toshiba are issued in the compact WQFN 36 body (5 mm x 5 mm x 0.8 mm) which can be mounted on the printed circuit boards of the limited size used in compact electric motors.
ICs also allow to reduce quantity of external components due to integration of the drive into one sensor and schemes of measurement of current without resistors. Engine management with one sensor allows to reduce the number of Hall sensors from three to one and ensures more reliable functioning of the electric motor in comparison with the similar engine without sensors, claim in Toshiba. The system of measurement of current without resistors allows to reduce the power of the power source and does not require the used earlier big resistors. All these innovations reduce necessary space for component placement on mounting payments.
High frequency of rotation is reached due to application of a switching system with a corner of 150 degrees. Faster and stable rotation in comparison with a switching system on the basis of a sine signal is as a result reached, and the vibration level decreases in comparison with a traditional switching system with a corner of 120 degrees. Low resistance abroach (total standard value for an upper and lower shoulder of 0.24 Ohms) allows to reduce the heat release connected with increase in current of the electric motor working with the high-frequency drive.
TC78B015FTG works with the voltage range of power supply from 6 to 22 V, and work of TC78B015AFTG requires supply voltage from 6 to 30 V. Both devices provide an output current up to 3 A, can work with Hall sensors and also have a number of protective functions, including shutdown when overheating, detection of exceeding of current and blocking of the electric motor.
Serial production of both ICs of the TC78B015FTG and TC78B015AFTG drivers already began.
2016: TC78S122FTG
On November 17, 2016 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company announced expansion of a series of drivers of stepping electric motors release of TC78S122FTG - the compact device with the maximum allowable voltage output of 40 V and current 2.0 A.
According to the statement of the press service of the company, the IC TC78S122FTG will help designers to save space, to reduce energy consumption, to reduce heat release, to minimize vibration and an acoustic noise in high-speed management systems for movement. The device is focused on use in surveillance cameras, ATMs, office equipment, industrial automatic equipment and home appliances.
TC78S122FTG is the dual device which is functioning as the bipolar 2-channel driver and at the same time managing two stepping electric motors. Consolidation of functions on one crystal helps to save space on the printed circuit board, to create more compact devices. Heat generated by the IC was one of the reasons of impossibility of continuous work of traditional drivers in systems requiring a control current in the range of 2.0 of A. Odnako of TC78S122FTG can manage at the same time two channels by means of the low maximum resistance abroach - 0.6 Ohms (50% lower in comparison with former products) and reduces heat release.
In the devices released earlier the scheme of the regulator for internal logic of the IC worked in standby mode. In this device the regulator can be switched-off in standby mode by means of function of sleep mode. It provides decrease in energy consumption of the IC. TC78S122FTG manages stepping electric motors, has the interface for control of collector electric motors of a direct current. One channel at the same time can be used for control of the stepping electric motor, two channels — for control of collector electric motors of a direct current.
For decrease in vibration and noise, TC78S122FTG provides control of electric motors with high resolution ¼ steps (max.) and has function of switching of the modes of attenuation for management at permanent value of current. As a part of error detectors the built-in schemes of protective shutdown when overheating and exceeding current for reliability augmentation and safety of work.
TC78S122FTG is issued in the compact QFN body the sizes of 7 mm x 7 mm x 0.9 mm.
