Panasas ActiveStor

Panasas ActiveStor is the hybrid scalable solution of NAS developed for acceleration of production and research applications. The solutions ActiveStor which are based on advanced blade-architecture, deeply integrated operating system of Panasas PanFS storage and the protocol of parallel access to data of DirectFlow accelerate operation of applications, at the same time providing reliability necessary at the enterprises and in the research organizations of power, a state administration, natural sciences, productions, media and entertainments and also at the universities.

ActiveStor fixes the problems with scalability and performance associated with traditional architecture of NAS. For increase in capacity and system performance in process of growth it is rather simple to add new blade-modules. Parallel access to data and automatic balancing of loading guarantee that performance will be optimal. For acceleration of access to metadata and small files in ActiveStor the high-speed drives SSD are used that, in combination with the high-capacity inexpensive disks SATA, provides the best ratio the price/performance.

Completely integrated Panasas PanFS file system represents the parallel file system with uniform, scalable namespace. PanFS stores files as smart data objects, dynamically distributing and balancing with loading of operations of data transmission on all blade-architecture.

The solutions ActiveStor extend to more than 45 PB and up to 360 Gbps or 2.6 million IOPS of the aggregated performance, providing simultaneous access of thousands of clients. Capacity and speed of input-output grow linearly together with capacity.

Uniform point of management via the graphic user interface or using the command line. Means of a corporate class include support of "instant pictures" (snapshots) and quotas of users and groups. A system is customized less, than in ten minutes, and scaling is performed without functioning interruption.

Panasas ActiveStor supports protocols: Panasas DirectFlow; NFS v3 (UDP or TCP); SMB 1.0, 2.0, 2.1 (CIFS); NDMP; SNMP; LDAP; ADS. The supported clients – Linux, Microsoft Windows, Mac Apple.
