According to DISCOVERY Research Group estimates, the laminate market in Russia in 2014 amounted to 106.8 million square meters. m, which is less than the indicator of 2013 year by 1.1%. In 2015, the laminate market amounted to 71, 5 million square meters. m, which is 33.1% less than in 2014.

The main market share for the period from 2009 to 2014. was the import of laminate to Russia, but in 2015 the production of laminate in Russia began to play a leading role.

The volume of laminate production in Russia in 2015 amounted to 45600 thousand square meters. m In 2012, this figure was very close to the current one and then amounted to 46500 thousand square meters. m According to experts, in the coming years, production will increase or at least not undergo a significant decrease.

Russian-based production, purchasing raw materials for rubles and compensating production costs also in ruble equivalent, was in a more advantageous position. They remained attractive in price with a high quality product. Suppliers from Europe and China began to fail to withstand such competition and the market gradually shifted to a local manufacturer. The joint production capacities of the industry companies with localization in Russia are now able to cover the need for laminate, fully ensuring import substitution for this type of woodworking products.

The largest share of laminate imports in 2015 in kind was delivered to Russia from China, and in value terms - from Germany.
