"Exxon an oil and gas industry limited" upgraded the radio relay communication line between the island and the continent

On December 7, 2016 the Technoserv company announced the final of the project on upgrade of the offshore section of flight of radio-link communication between the island of Sakhalin and the mainland of Khabarovsk Krai within the contract with the operator of the Sakhalin-I project Exxon Neftegaz Limited company.

Project Tasks

Taking into account the scale of the Sakhalin-I project, difficult climatic conditions, Exxon Neftegaz Limited made the decision on upgrade of the operating wireless communication line to the level corresponding to project business challenges.

The Russian system integrator "Technoserv" became the contractor.

Project Progress

Specialists of integrator carry out upgrade of the radio relay communication line on the offshore section of the communication channel connecting the Coastal center of preparation of Chayvo on Sakhalin and the oil loading terminal in the locality of De Castries in Khabarovsk Krai. Line length on the offshore section of 22 km.

During the project replacement of the operating radio relay equipment on modern, trunk level - NEC 5000IPS on each of two objects for the organization of communication is executed.

Specialists of Technoserv:

• installed, set up exchange and channel-forming equipment,
• replaced antenna equipment,
• held testing of the waveguide cable,
• checked work of services and technology communication.
• carried out an adjustment of antennas.
• executed replacement of radom of antennas (antenna caps) intended for protection of antennas against influence of climatic factors, decrease in a wind load, protection against a rain and snow, erosive influence.

Project Results

For the organization of radio-link communication between two objects separated by the passage specialists had to be separated into two independent groups and to coordinate the actions in the conditions of almost total absence of available means of communication. At the same time, the difficult arrangement of an object on Sakhalin demanded creation of the field camp. According to the results of, the power of the line corresponds settlement, works are performed taking into account minimization of interrupt time of services. The updated communication line is the main artery of information transfer between the design entities shared by waters of the Nevelsky passage "Sakhalin-I". The severe climate and severe geographical conditions require not only use of modern technologies, but also define high requirements to qualification of specialists and safe methods of conducting works.
