2017: Tinkoff bank tests the system of face recognition in ATMs

In August, 2017 Tinkoff bank announced implementation in the ATMs the systems of face recognition. The platform of identification and verification of persons of Luna from VisionLabs company and iVideon video surveillance system is integrated into the software of ATMs.

In ATMs the camera which can be used at the same time both to video surveillance, and to face recognition is also mounted. The bank calculates that in the future the system of face recognition will allow to increase service quality and also will perform functions of additional protection when carrying out transactions.

Implementation of function will happen step by step, as of August the project is on a test stage.

Tinkoff bank started own ATM network in the summer of 2017, having begun with Moscow. As of August in Moscow 28 ATMs work. In them transactions of cash withdrawal, account replenishment, money transfer are available to other users and introduction of payments. Within August-September the bank is going to expand network. ATMs will appear in large shopping centers of St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Samara, Ufa, Saratov, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Voronezh and Novosibirsk.

On biometrics of the person and projects of different extent of study other banks have interest in identification of clients also. So, since June, 2017 the pilot project on identification of the client in the ATM according to biometric data of the person started Sberbank. In the used solution the patented algorithm of recognition of Toshiba company is used, and the RecFaces company acted as his supplier.

The B&N Bank also develops own project on biometric identification of clients on the person in ATMs. The bank assumes that the pilot project can be started in 2017[1].

2016: Software implementation of Visionlabs Luna in mobile devices of employees

At the end of 2016 Tinkoff bank implemented Visionlabs Luna software in infrastructure and mobile devices of employees of the bank. The platform allows to receive qualitative photos of clients in difficult conditions.

The solution is used for the purpose of confirmation of the identity of clients, internal audit and replenishment of base of photos. In "Tinkoff bank" calculated that verification according to the photo of the clients who submitted the loan application will allow to reduce time of processing of requests and to reduce credit risks.

The bank was also going to use the system of face recognition for carrying out offline investigations: the analysis of the customer base for the purpose of identification of signs of fraud.

"To system implementation bank representatives photographed clients on mobile devices independently. The pictures brought in base not always conformed to requirements of bank – images could be dark or insufficiently accurate. The updated mobile application will analyze a video flow from which a system will automatically select the picture taken in the best quality and a foreshortening and will save it in the database of bank", – the CEO of VisionLabs Alexander Khanin told.

In 2017 Tinkoff Bank was also going to embed the platform of face recognition VisionLabs Luna in client mobile application.
