On January 11, 2017 the GE Healthcare company provided the portable device for performing ultrasonographies (ultrasonography). The possibility of use of the additional applications expanding functionality of a product became one of feature of the device.
The compact ultrasonography scanner which weighs only 406 grams can be used to inspections of an abdominal cavity, to urological, obstetric, pediatric and cardiological diagnostics. Vscan Extend includes in the structure two probes which are built in the sensor housing which using a wire connects to the device, similar to the smartphone, with the touch display.
Vscan Extend is the first ultrasonic GE Healthcare system which got access to app store of GE Marketplace. There the programs allowing to measure, for example, the bladder volume, to conduct examinations of patients with heart failure, to define existence of a pleural exudate or pheumothorax and also to exchange medical images and to store them in a cloud service are placed.
Adaptation uses data encryption and other security technologies. The scanner can be connected to PACS networks of medical institutions by means of the DICOM standard, providing access to databases and statistics. Vscan Extend can it is useful in work of the exit medical specialists working, for example, during fighting or sporting events.
The advantage for doctors consists in online and simple access to medical visualization and care of patients. The beginning of sales of Vscan Extend in Europe and the USA is planned for January, 2017. The cost of a product is not called a producer.[1]
