The State Hermitage completed creation of remarks of a collection of the Museum of the Imperial porcelain plant

Content

On February 7, 2017 the RangeVision company announced delivery project completion to the State Hermitage in St. Petersburg using RangeVision Pro technology. The Kiberon Group company took part in the project.

Project Tasks

It was required to save a porcelain collection of the Museum of the Imperial porcelain plant, under control of the State Hermitage.

In a collection 74 figures. Height of objects is from 36 to 40 cm. Kiberon Group was faced by a problem of digitization of 28 figures: after processing of results of scanning their three-dimensional models prepared for creation of digital archive of a collection. These 3D models were used for creation of copies of sculptures from a gipsopolimer by means of 3D -[1] to printing[1].

Project Progress

For digitization of figures it was used 3D - the scanner of a line of PRO of RangeVision company. Specialists of Kiberon Group company saw off 3D - scanning in the territory of the museum.

Sculptures are more than 100 years old. Any tactile manipulations with them were excluded. All process took place in presence of employees of the museum, any movements of exhibits were carried out with their help and under their observation.

Digitization of a surface of sculptures is carried out on the second zone of scanning which sizes of 300 x 225 x 225 mm. At the same time 3D - permission was 0.17 mm. For simplification of a task and in view of restrictions for manipulations with sculptures, for scanning the rotary table was used.

After digitization of exhibits post-processing of results is carried out. The initial stitching and processing of scans is executed in the software of the scanner – RangeVision ScanCenter.

Project Results

The copy from a gipsopolimer received on the 3D-printer was used for creation of a plaster mold which was improved artists of the Imperial porcelain plant taking into account modern technology features of production. Then the product was cast in these forms and underwent double high-temperature roasting.
