In February, 2017 the Government of the Russian Federation approved by the resolution the new rules of maintaining the state register of municipal entities offered by Ministry of Justice. They establish that a register should be maintained only in electronic form.
Earlier the order of formation and maintaining the register of municipal entities was defined by the rules approved by the government decree of April 18, 2012. They permitted maintaining the register on paper and electronic media.
New rules were approved for the purpose of improvement of an order of formation and maintaining the register, says the government.
Because a register is maintained only in electronic form now, and taking into account that data open, new rules do not provide an obligation of territorial authorities of Ministry of Justice to provide paper statements from it on requests of bodies or persons in it.
According to Rosstat, as of January, 2016 in Russia there were 22,406 municipal entities.
The information access in the register is provided via the website Zakon.scli.ru which works slowly and with errors.
