Caspian Pipeline Consortium upgraded power supply of Tengiz and Atyrau stations

On February 18, 2017 the press service of Schneider Electric announced commissioning of oil pumping stations "Tengiz" and "Atyrau", in September, 2015, by request of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

Project Tasks

The customer needed to increase performance of a pipeline system and, according to growth of loading, to provide reliable power supply of oil pumping stations.

Increase in power of oil pumping stations in 2015 demanded to reconstruct the systems of external and internal power supply of these objects. To the equipment supplied at the Tengiz and Atyrau station, the customer showed non-standard and difficult, from the technical point of view, the requirement:

• certification of all equipment on seismic firmness,
• cells — to have the increased resistance to an internal arc (31.5 kA) and short-circuit currents (31.5 kA — for 10 kV, 60 kA — for 0.4 kV).

Project Progress

On objects of KTK it was necessary to deliver 45 closed distributors of 10 kV of McSet for a power supply of retaining pumps, infrastructure facilities of NPS "Tengiz" and "Atyrau". For the systems of internal power supply the contract included panel board control stations and low-voltage complete devices of 0.4 kV PrismaP and Okken.

The division of Schneider Electric in Kazakhstan should upgrade KTK of a cell of McSet which are available on objects.

In particular, 150 A voltage transformers on 400 A are replaced. The modified devices of protection of Sepam 1000+ are installed.

For the project KTK Schneider Electric implemented protection against arc short circuits on optosensors instead of traditional mechanical.

For distributors of 10 kV, upon the demand of the customer, the operation algorithm of the automatic input of a reserve (AIR) is provided. The algorithm is developed with participation of Samaraneftegazproyekt design institute.

On production and delivery of McSet took away 19 weeks, for NKU — 17 weeks.

Project Results

Start of the upgraded oil pumping stations "Tengiz" and "Atyrau" took place in September, 2015. For February 18, 2017 NPS operate normally, providing the increased oil pipeline power.
