2021: Increase in DDoS protection service capacity from 10 to 25 Gb/s in Russia

On August 31, 2021, Orange Business Services international service provider announced the optimization of the Russian segment of the integrated DDoS protection system, increasing the service capacity to repel complex attacks at the application level from 10 to 25 Gb/s. A backup node was also created at the MMTS-9 traffic exchange point.

The Russian Orange Business Services network is part of a global multilevel integrated DDoS protection system that can repel attacks up to 5 TB/s. The service is provided under the brand name Internet Umbrella, in Russia its users are several dozen companies, mainly financial organizations, Orange specified.

Increasing the capacity of the Moscow Traffic Clearing Center from 10 Gb/s to 25 Gb/s using a virtual distributed architecture will allow you to more efficiently redistribute the licensed filtering band between cleaning servers. If necessary, traffic will be redirected to the global cleaning center in Frankfurt, and after that it will be returned to Russia. In addition, the distributed filtering principle allows you to expand the licensed cleaning band and take local servers to the regions. Orange Business Services experts are exploring the possibility of organizing local capacities to protect against DDoS attacks in large regional centers in Russia.
