TES-x85U

QNAP TES-x85U is model of a corporate class.

On April 11, 2017 the QNAP company announced availability of network storages of the corporate level from the TES-x85U series with a possibility of the choice of the QES or QTS operating system at an initialization stage.

TES-1885U and TES-3085U are delivered in different modifications where are used 14-nanometer Intel Xeon processor D with 4, 6 or 8 computing cores and RAM of DDR4 with support of ECC or without it with a capacity from 16 to 128 Gbytes (the maximum value on four slots). All devices have the rack body 2U high, the bus of SAS of 12 Gbit / c, two 450 Watts power supplies, four ports Gigabit Ethernet, two ports 10GbE SFP+ and also four free slots of PCIe for additional adapters 10GbE and 40GbE or the SSD drives NVMe.

The TES-3085U model is expected installation only of 2.5-inch disks: 24 HDD or SSD in front and 6 SSD behind, used for caching. The drive TES-1885U is distinguished by a 12-disk frontal basket supporting also standard size winchesters 3.5 inches with a capacity up to 10 Tbyte, at the same time 6 compartments on the body back as well as in the senior model, are taken away under SSD.

For application and placement of critical important data it is recommended to select QES on the basis of a core of FreeBSD and the ZFS file system from the virtualized environments, at the same time start will require at least 32 Gbytes of RAM. A system supports almost unlimited number of instant pictures, the RAID-Z mode, deduplication at the level of blocks, flexible selection and release of space. The SnapSync function provides fast reservation and data recovery between several storages, including the ES1640dc models with two active controllers. For use of DWH in OpenStack-Wednesdays, up to Ocata version, there is QNAP Cinder Driver, and thanks to Storage Replication Adapter with support of VMware of SRM 6.5 reservation and disaster recovery of data in infrastructures under the administration of platforms of VMware is available.

The second operating system — QTS based on Linux — has a broad set of basic services and additional packets of the Center of applications for creation of the multi-purpose NAS solution. Work on the iSCSI protocol, the general access to files for users of Windows, Mac, Linux and UNIX and also integration with Windows services of AD and LDAP are supported creation to 256 volumes/LUN and their 1024 instant pictures. Recovery and remote replication of resources are executed according to the schedule and in real time using the RTRR function, the Rsync protocol and packets for cloud storages. Besides, an automatic tiring on Qtier technologies, centralized operation and monitoring by drives SSD caching setup, two applications for the organization of video surveillance, installation of the containers LXC and Docker through Container Station, creation and placement of virtual machines by means of an internal hypervisor of Virtualization Station are provided in Q’Center.

Regardless of the choice of the operating system the network drives TES-x85U are officially certified for virtualization platforms, such as VMware vSphere 6.0 with support of technologies VAAI, Microsoft Hyper-V based on ODX and Windows Server 2012 and also Citrix XenServer 6.0.

Scaling of capacity is reached by connection to 8 shelves of the QNAP expansion of the REXP-1620U-RP and REXP-1220U-RP models on 16 or 12 disks. Also using the Virtual JBOD function it is possible to attach not used space from other QNAP NAS devices in the form of virtual pools of storage and disk volumes.

For March 2, 2017 TES-3085U is the network RAID drive.

TES-3085U supports the QES operating system (QNAP Enterprise Storage) based on the FreeBSD platform and the ZFS file system.

A QES system supports the ZFS file system, there is a possibility of creation of almost unlimited number of snapshots, deduplication of block data and mechanisms of a compression in real time. QTS can offer such technologies as: Qtier, SSD a cache, the set of applications for increase in efficiency of storage and considerable expansion of functionality of the device.

For February 27, 2017 TES-1885U is the network RAID drive.

TES-1885U - model of a corporate class is equipped with Intel Xeon processor D. Feature of the device - an opportunity for work running one of two operating systems: QES on the FreeBSD or QTS platform on the Linux platform.

The drive TES-1885U equipped with 64-bit SoC the Intel Xeon processor D-1531 of 6-core 2.2 GHz with the integrated PCH platform supports up to 128 GB of RAM of DDR4 ECC RDIMM, has two built-in ports of 10 Gigabits of SFP+ and 12 GB / about the SAS controller.

TES-1885U supports a SAS disks of 12 GB / with, including 12 GB / from SAS and 6 GB / with SATA hard drives and SSD disks. The platform allows to organize storage, selecting disks the most suitable for accomplishment of these or those tasks, caring at the same time for the budget of the company.
