For March 13, 2017 the Virtual polygon - technology of the organization of a virtual environment for carrying out tests of hi-tech products, including the missile and space equipment.

On March 13, 2017 the press service of Fund of perspective researches for financing of perspective technologies of military and dual purpose announced creation of a virtual polygon – set of mathematical models of the tested product, the operation environment (the spreading surface, the atmosphere, electromagnetic and other radiations, means of logistics, the operating personnel, etc.) and the ADP equipment necessary for data processing of these models.

Today opportunities for use of virtual environment for carrying out tests of hi-tech products, including the missile and space equipment, actively develop. The reason of it is rapid information technology development in the field of product lifecycle management (so-called IPI-technologies or CALS technologies). Thanks to their development permanent accumulation of the data describing both products, and the environment in the form of mathematical models is provided i.e. new initial data for more exact designing of virtual environment of tests appear. Besides, active development of high-performance computer aids which allow to process effectively saved-up amounts of data continues.

The quality and reliability of hi-tech products directly depend on the volume of tests which are carried out at a development stage. At the same time natural tests of the missile and space equipment cost very much. As a result the vicious circle turns out: on the one hand, a large number of tests allows to increase reliability of a product, and with another – increases its cost value. The situation is aggravated also with the fact that it is not always possible to test in all possible operating conditions: if it is about the land equipment, then these are different types of soil, rainfall and other weather conditions. In case of tests of the space equipment of opportunities of carrying out full natural tests it is even less, and their cost is significantly higher.

It is possible to solve this problem due to transfer of a part of tests to virtual environment, i.e. to test not physical models of the equipment, but mathematical. Thus it is possible to increase significantly reliability of products and to reduce their cost. It is necessary to emphasize that tests in virtual environment will not be able to replace completely natural as final criterion of the truth anyway is practice, and results of virtual tests will be always have to confirmed by tests of physical models of products. In the space-rocket sphere there is a concept of land experimental working off, and the volume of this processing will remain even at active use of virtual tests of the space equipment. However use of a virtual polygon will allow to achieve that missile launch took place successfully at once, and the period of development was most reduced.
