Aeroflot will predict breakdowns of airplanes on the basis of the analysis of Big Data

Aeroflot is going to create a diagnostic system and the forecast of technical condition of nodes and units of the aircrafts using the Big Data tools. The company announced request for proposals from contractors on development of a prototype of such system on March 22, 2017^[1]. The maximum price which Aeroflot is ready to pay for execution of works is 47.2 million rubles.

The prototype of a system will allow airline to estimate possibilities of the predictive analysis of indicators of reliability of aircrafts and economic effect of its use.

Within the project it is necessary to carry out the analysis of multidimensional data of large volume and to develop predictive mathematical models using methods of machine learning. If it is required, the contractor will have to develop specialized mathematical methods for the analysis of operational these aircrafts also.

Big Data will help Aeroflot to estimate reliability of aircrafts

At an experimental stage in a system it is going to implement standard tasks in a system on a limited data set from information systems of Aeroflot. As input parameters the digitized data from information systems concerning work of different nodes and units of aircrafts, flight information and other accompanying data will be used.

In requirements to a prototype it is said that during its creation it is necessary to use as much as possible available ready-made software solutions - commercial or Open Source - for the purpose of reduction of time for development. Aeroflot does not specify preferences on specific products.

The contractor or own on a site, servers and infrastructure, or on leased IT infrastructure of external DPC will develop a prototype.

Aeroflot expects to accept works in August, 2017.

Technologies of processing and the analysis of Big Data are already used in Aeroflot in other areas. For example, in March, 2016 the company announced implementation of analytical technologies IBM, including solutions BigInsights and SPSS that it is better to study preferences of clients also their behavior at purchase commission to make interaction with it more personified, address.

In 2016 Aeroflot also began development of the business strategy of development of technologies of the processing and the analysis of Big Data calculated on three years. Bain & Company winning first place in the world ranking of consulting companies 2017 of Vault Consulting 50 acts as the consultant for development of strategy of Big Data for the company.
