Rostelecom: Rural Wi-Fi

In the spring of 2017 Rostelecom brought into operation wireless Internet access in 24 small villages and settlements of Altai Krai located mainly in the western part of the region and also in the suburb of Biysk and Slavgorod. "Rural Wi-Fi" within the federal program of the elimination of digital inequality (EDI) works in total in 83 localities of the region.

The equipment is installed, as a rule, in the center of the village and covers social and administrative objects. Speed of the Internet in an area of coverage of a signal is up to 10 Mbps. Quarterly residents of the villages connected to service Rural Wi-fi download more than 6 thousand GB of information. For connection it is necessary to be registered in a personal account of Rostelecom, to receive the login and the password and to pay the rate set at the level of 45 rubles monthly or 1.5 rubles a day.

Internet access appeared in villages Coastal (Pankrushikhinsky district), Pleso-Kurya (Habarsky district), Alekseyevka (The Blagoveshchensk district), Platovka (Klyuchevsky district), Kazantsevo (Romanovsky district), Malakhovo (The Aleysk district), the settlements of Mirabilit (Kulundinsky district) and Novotroitsk (Rodinsky district) and other localities.

By the end of 2017 the Wi-Fi-signal will be organized in 17 localities of edge. Installation of the additional hardware for the purpose of a scope of bigger number of subscribers and also construction in a number of villages of an optical network from Wi-Fi access point to educational institutions is in the long term supposed.
