SPARC M - a series Unix- the SPARC M servers from the companies Fujitsu and Oracle on the platform of SPARC64 RISC processors.
On April 7, 2017 Fujitsu and Oracle announced release of the next generation jointly advanced by Unix servers SPARC M.
The main improvement of SPARC M12 – the 16-core SPARC64 XII processor with clock rate of 3.9 GHz which, according to Fujitsu, exceeds on performance of the predecessor of SPARC64 X up to 2.5 times at the expense of the capacity of a crystal and the power of one main core[1] increased by 2.5 times which grew twice[1].
The server received the name Sparc M12-2 "Athena ++".
In these servers the technology of water cooling with steam formation of Vapor and Liquid Loop Cooling (VLLC) is used.
The line of SPARC M12 consists of two models – two-socket M12-2 and its modification with support of horizontal scaling of M12-2S expanded to a 32-socket configuration and 32 Tbyte of RAM of DDR4.
The server on the SPARC64 XII platform is delivered with the included two main cores. The others are connected according to additional licenses.
Servers are controlled the Solaris operating system.
