Toyota Welwalk WW-1000 (an exoskeleton for legs)

Welwalk WW-1000 — the exoskeleton developed by Toyota company for people with limited mobility. A system consists of two components: platforms with a mobile track and the monitor and also the robotic legs providing bending and extension of a knee. Sensors in the device control walking and help to adapt to the new device while physicians manage a system on the touch screen of the monitor quickly.

2017: Leasing

On April 12, 2017 the Toyota Motor company announced service of lease of robotic legs Welwalk WW-1000 intended to people with the broken mobility of legs.

In the fall of 2017 of Totoya will begin to lease Welwalk WW-1000 to medical institutions. At the first stage about 100 systems will be involved in the project. The one-time payment for use the equipment will make 1 million yens (about $9200), still will monthly have to pay 350 thousand yens ($3200) of clinic during all life of the equipment.

Robotic legs of Welwalk WW-1000

Welwalk WW-1000 robots are called to help to return to people with partial paralysis of a leg an opportunity to go. Partial paralysis of the lower extremities can turn out to be consequence of a stroke, injury or other reasons. At such deviation complex rehabilitation which cornerstone the physiotherapy exercises are is required. Patients need to go more often, however walking at paralysis is complicated as the leg  does not provide a due support.

The frame of Welwalk WW-1000 supports a body while the sensors installed on all frame control movements and regulate help level when walking. Thus, a system itself understands with what force it is necessary to help the patient to bend and unbend legs.

In Toyota call Welwalk WW-1000 the most modern prosthesis capable to replace almost all functions of extremities of the person, having made them further more hardy to injuries.[1]
