In April, 2017 the Cambridge Consultants company provided the cheap smartphones accessory allowing to reveal such widespread disease of eyes as glaucoma.

The gadget under the name Viewi is connected to the smartphone and checks sight in house conditions by means of light flashes. The device is similar to a helmet of virtual reality, it works together with the mobile device through a special application.

This program generates a sample selection of flickering light for detection of glaucoma. In a set the remote control which will need to be used when the patient sees light is delivered.

The test which is offered to be gone to Viewi will be able to become good warning for users of need to see a doctor and also will execute a role of primary exact diagnostics in places where medical services are difficult available, authors of development consider.

Diagnostics of one eye through Viewi takes about five minutes. Results will be available at once, with them it will be in case of need possible and to go to the doctor.

The sight lost because of open-angle glaucoma cannot be recovered, but early diagnostics and treatment can slow down progressing of a disease — the head of department of development of surgical and intervention products in Cambridge Consultants Simon Karger says. — We made use of our experience in the field of optical technologies and skills on creation of program algorithms to show how it is possible simply, cheap and quickly to diagnose glaucoma, doing it even at home. Viewi does not replace present diagnostic systems and managements, products is developed for expansion of clinical trials.

The simple device for determination of glaucoma is estimated by developers at only $25.^[1]
