Technology of a superstable optical memory

Within the joint project of Head department of research activity and technology maintenance of advanced technologies (the innovation researches) of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, Fonda of perspective researches and the Ministry of Education and Science in RHTU of D.I. Mendeleyev in the spring of 2017 was announced technology of a superstable optical memory for archive information storage, steady against extreme external influences.

The technology is based on creation of nanogrids with certain properties by radiation of quartz crystals laser radiation with the set parameters.

This approach allowed to implement data recording in one cell not of one as it is accepted in traditional information media, and three bits of information.

At the current stage of project implementation the technology of record and reading of information is developed and the data medium providing accomplishment of the following requirements is created:

  • extreme durability – preserving of physical and chemical properties and capability to store the written data at the room temperature during beyond all bounds long term – hundreds of thousands of years and more;
  • resistance to high temperatures - not less 800ºС,
  • high radiation and chemical resistance;
  • the increased capacity and writing rates, comparable to modern carriers (from 10 Mbps) and reading (from 100 Mbps) data.

Sales opportunity of technology of a superdense and superstable optical memory at the industrial level leads Russia into the lead in the field of the developments connected with archive data storage.

Use of the developed technological solutions will allow to refuse consumption of data storage devices of foreign production in the long term.
