2025: Polyclinic Opening

A new child-adult clinic worth ₽1,9 billion began work in the Pravoberezhye microdistrict of the city of Kaluga. The medical institution is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment, including a magnetic resonance tomograph, a computer tomograph and a mammograph. The opening ceremony was held on July 18, 2025.

Russia Tatyana Golikova Shapsha called the opening of the clinic a real holiday for Kaluga residents, noting that the project had been preparing for about ten years. The medical institution is located on an area of ​ ​ 17.5 thousand square meters. The design capacity is 650 visits per shift, of which 400 are in the adult department and 250 are in the children's department. The clinic will serve the population of the Pravoberezhye microdistrict, where over 70 thousand people live.

The Governor of the Kaluga Region stressed that this part of the city is the most intensively developing territory. New microdistricts, schools, kindergartens, sports facilities and the campus of Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman were built in the district. The modern polyclinic has become a missing element of the social infrastructure of the area.

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova assessed the opening of a medical institution as a landmark event. She noted that in terms of equipment, the clinic can compete with Moscow medical institutions and meets the standards of large cities.

Construction financing was carried out at the expense of an infrastructure budget loan. According to the government of the Kaluga region, the total cost of the project amounted to ₽1,9 billion. The construction was carried out with the support of the federal government and by decision of the President of Russia.[1]

2023: The government allocated 540 million rubles for the purchase of medical equipment in 2 Kaluga hospitals

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the allocation of 540 million rubles for the purchase of medical equipment for the Kaluga City Hospital No. 5 and the Children's City Hospital in Kaluga. The corresponding document was published in mid-December 2023.

It follows from it that at the expense of federal funding for these medical institutions, including X-ray machines, endoscopic systems, bactericidal irradiators, radiosurgical knives, medical refrigerators, dental instruments and equipment will be purchased. In total, it is planned to purchase about 2.3 thousand medical devices.

Kaluga City Hospital No. 5

According to the order of the government, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation will have to ensure the conclusion of an agreement on the provision of subsidies from the federal budget to the budget of the Kaluga region in the amount of 540 million rubles no later than December 20, 2023. Also, the department was instructed to control the targeted use of the allocated funds.

The construction of a new eight-story building of the regional children's hospital began in January 2021 as part of the national project "Healthcare" of the regional program "Development of children's health care, including the creation of a modern infrastructure for providing medical care to children of the Kaluga region."

The building will house an inpatient ambulance department for children, where emergency care will be provided. This will optimize the provision of inpatient care, reduce the flow of infections to the department and the length of stay of children in the hospital on average up to five days. The surgical department will expand, a department for the resuscitation of surgical newborns will be organized, which will come from the perinatal center, the oncological department will be expanded, so that children with oncological diseases will be in the same department to strictly comply with the standards of oncological care.
