2017: ZTE completed field tests of a 5G of mMTC in China
The ZTE Corporation company, the supplier of telecommunication services, corporate and consumer technological solutions for the mobile Internet, announced in June, 2017 that ZTE became the first developer who completed field tests of mMTC in the second phase of tests of a 5G in China. Results of tests showed that the number of the connected terminals was increased almost by 600 percent, having reached equivalent density in 10 million connections.
ZTE uses technology of multi-user shared access (MUSA) for significant increase in number of connections, providing effective scriptability, assuming mass connections with low power consumption. Implementing short expanded codes in a difficult field, the MUSA technology offered ZTE is the only solution of multi-user access in the industry which in the conditions of high load promotes increase in number of connections by three-six times. The technology excludes need of resource planning and simplifies synchronization and capacity management. In addition to it, the technology uses the advanced sequence of a broadband range and SIC technology, simplifies implementation of terminals and reduces energy consumption.
These tests are the world's largest regional platform on conducting testing of technology 5G, in 2017 the Chinese tests of a 5G already passed into the second phase – a stage of check of technical solution. The cities for carrying out tests selected Huairou and Beijing where such conditions as 5G NR @ Sub-6GHz, 5G NR @ mmWave, mass intercomputer connections (mMTC) and a superreliable communication with a low delay (uRLLC), are completely available and meet all requirements of the tests and researches necessary for large-scale commercial implementation of a 5G in the future. Testing of mMTC is an important part of the second phase of tests of a 5G in China. Using the patented design of structure of frames and MUSA technology, ZTE reached the leading positions in the industry. The company demonstrated this technology for further promotion of a 5G in the scenarios requiring mass connections and low power consumption.
During the forthcoming era of a 5G mass connections and Big Data are intended to become key trends, and Internet of Things (IoT) will be the main driving force of development of a 5G. In the future billions of mobile terminals will be integrated into such areas as robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous cars. mMTC is one of three main scenarios of application recognized by the International union of telecommunications (ITU-R). It is one of key performance indicators of 5G networks which should reach density in 1 million connections on square kilometer. Mass connections are a serious problem for 5G networks. In a traditional mobile network if rendering service initiates use of a large number of terminals, huge resources of planning and the electric power are consumed. The solution of these problems became the main premises for scriptability with mass connections.
The ZTE company as one of the main members of the group on promotion of IMT-2020 (5G) in China, takes the lead of accomplishment of a number of key tasks in the field of technical researches and product development that provides leadership of the company in researches and standardization of a number of key technologies of a 5G. After end of the first phase of research tests of technology 5G in China ZTE fully mobilized the resources for the second phase. Using the newest IT module of the base station (BBU), a 5G multirange active antenna assembly (AAU) and new technologies of the radio interface (NR), ZTE unrolled operational tests for the satisfaction of key requirements to performance in typical scenarios of application: in the conditions of high spectral efficiency, big density of connection, high reliability and at low delays of air interfaces. These tests also promote commercialization of products 5G and facilitate check of technical solution before large-scale commercial use of a 5G, laying a strong basis for commercial availability of a 5G in China by 2020.
