2022: Microsoft Project Server 2019 Project Planning and Control Module Implementation

Conteq on May 13, 2022 announced the completion of a project to develop and implement a project planning and control module based on Microsoft Project Server 2019 for STC Etalon. The created system allows you to carry out operational planning and coordination of planning schedules for company projects.

The integrated construction control system was deployed in the cloud and uses company information models. The system allows you to monitor the timing and scope of work, health and safety, and also helps in the preparation and distribution of reports online.

As part of the integration of the integrated construction control system and Microsoft Project Server, two interconnected projects are created for each investment and construction project in each of the interacting systems. The project, maintained by Microsoft Project Server, provides scheduling and tracking of construction and installation works, due to the template and classification of tasks in the schedule. And the project, which is carried out by means in the system of comprehensive construction control, provides recording of the state of work at the facility in the context of physical volumes.

Participants in the implementation of the investment and construction project receive a visual picture of the state of affairs at the facility. The work on the projects is carried out quickly and smoothly: the launch of services on both sides (Project Server and SKKS) is automated at given intervals, the prompt receipt of objective data on the performance of work in terms of physical volumes is established, as well as the receipt of the most complete and reliable information on the state of construction work on the site in real time.

As a result, a solution was implemented that takes into account the procedure for approving and adjusting the scope and prices of work. As part of this procedure, all its participants are assigned certain roles with appropriate access rights to the information displayed on the forms. In addition, the set of operations available to the user depends on the current stage of the procedure. The implemented role model is also taken into account when forming reporting documents on volumes and prices (KS-2, KS-6a and the Cumulative Statement).

The implementation of SCCS allowed the exchange of data on the scope of work between the project in Project Server and the external system in real time. Now the technical supervision engineer can enter data on planned and actual quantities of work directly on the construction site, from the tablet on which the interactive 3D model of the object is displayed. This feature will significantly speed up the process of approving and accepting work, which in turn will provide the company with increased employee efficiency, accurate compliance with project deadlines and, accordingly, reduction of additional costs - said Alexey Gultyaev, project manager of the Project department.

As an implementation partner, LenSpetsSMU chose the Conteq system integrator, which has wide industry design experience, including in the construction sector, and has all the necessary competencies of Microsoft.

Project Goals and Objectives

The project management system that was created was designed to solve the following information tasks:

  • creation of a unified information environment for scheduling and resource planning and operational monitoring of project execution in the company;
  • Project planning according to the company's internal standards using a single classification of work types and budget items;
  • downloading actual project budget performance from related information systems;
  • ensuring information interaction of employees in the process of project activity;
  • construction of cash flow reports for the project or its part, comparison of planned and actual indicators of DDS;
  • provision of reports generation in various sections.

Decision

In June 2012, the Conteq system integrator began work on implementing a project management system based on Microsoft Project Server. Conteq specialists were tasked to create a comprehensive solution for managing the portfolio of construction projects, with support for a complex hierarchy of relationships between schedules and networks, resource planning and accounting for project documentation.

Result

Conteq implementation consultants have developed the most appropriate project lifecycle management scenario for effective project planning, taking into account the specifics of project management in the company. The implemented solution made it possible to increase the transparency of project management within the company and reduce the time spent on reporting.
