Kazakhstan is going to use AI for cancer therapy

The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan in July, 2017 signed the partnership agreement with IBM corporation on use of artificial intelligence for treatment of oncological diseases.[1]

Supercomputer IBM Watson provides different scenarios of use of machine thinking, including application in the field of medicine. The Minister of Health Kazakhstan Elzhan Birtanov told that the partnership agreement provides carrying out a pilot project on use of artificial intelligence for diagnosing and cancer therapy.

"A system will make the recommendation on the basis of Big Data and scientific articles that will allow to define optimal methods of treatment for the specific patient" — Elzhan Birtanov explained.

The minister also noted that in the country a number of projects on process automation in the field of health protection is in parallel implemented. The uniform postal service midmail.kz which already includes 80 thousand accounts of doctors is created.

"This service allows to communicate to doctors among themselves, to create groups on different subjects" — concluded the head of department told.
