VTB 24 will implement a selfie authentication in paperless offices

VTB 24 announced on July 26, 2017 implementation of a pilot project of biometric authentication of clients on appearance at offices with paperless service. The pilot is considered successful, and until the end of 2017 the bank is going to scale this technology on network of 150 offices, in 2018 — on all network.

Pilot's results

The technology is available in VTB 24 paperless offices which feature that clients at a design of products sign only electronic document revisions. At the same time, in addition to traditional identification by the passport, the bank provides biometric authentication on the tablet which in addition confirms that this person signs the agreement.

The mechanism of use of biometrics on appearance is simple: at visit of paperless office the client is authenticated on the tablet of bank, having independently made the photo. Further check on coincidence of biometric data of the client to the reference picture which was accepted earlier at execution of the electronic signature of the client for service in bank is automatically performed.

In case of successful check there will be documents which need to be confirmed with the code received on the mobile phone. Further they will be sent to a personal account VTB 24 Online or to the client's e-mail. The technology can be applied at a design of cash loans, credit cards and deposits and also in transactions of bank within services for individuals.

The new technology has high reliability as process of biometric authentication on the tablet device is carried out by the client in department. It is impossible to undergo this procedure far off. At the same time the format of paperless office is very convenient as it allows to reduce attendance time at office and to increase service quality. I will separately note that now the client has the round-the-clock access to all documents on earlier issued products and perfect transactions" — the senior vice president, the director of the department of VTB 24 network Vyacheslav Gritsayenko summed up the results of pilot implementation

VTB 24 passes to technology of customer service which consists in failure from use of paper in bank departments. At the moment the technology of "paperless office" is implemented by VTB 24 in Moscow. As well as in a case with biometric authentication, until the end of 2017 the bank is going to scale technology of "paperless office" on network of 150 offices, and in 2018 – on all network (1086 offices in 75 regions of the country at the moment include). By estimates of bank, full-scale implementation of the project of paperless office on all network VTB 24 will allow to save about 500 million rubles a year.
