Alfa-Bank (Russia) (Oracle Exadata Database Machine)

In 2014, after end of pilot projects during which different business hypotheses were investigated Alfa-Bank purchased solutions Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Big Data Appliance.^[1]

Project Results

As of July, 2017, a large number of the data consolidated in one place — the Uniform corporate data warehouse which the BI Center together with business divisions of bank develops and fills with different analytics is at the disposal of bank. The optimized hardware and software systems Oracle Exadata and Oracle Big Data Appliance are used in Alfa-Bank for development of storage.

In particular, Exadata is applied to work with relational databases, and Big Data Appliance — with unstructured data. On a withdrawal of bank, Oracle Big Data Appliance allows to store customer information in the form of files, to flexibly configure a file structure on fields if it changes.

On Irina Elistratova told in July, 2017, the executive director of the BI Center, Alfa-Bank began to use Big Data technologies from storage of deep credit history for credit requests according to requirements of Basel II therefore the Oracle Big Data Appliance system was initially purchased by bank as the solution for meeting requirements of regulators.^[2]

According to her, the bank is going to use collection of information about the client from different sources, the analysis of unstructured data for formation of the target offer for the client.
