On August 8 the American company Varian Medical Systems announced the beginning of use of a new type of high-precision radiation therapy of HyperArc™ High Definition Radiotherapy (HDRT). The first oncological patient underwent treatment using a new system in the medical center Ospedale Sacro Cuore Don Calabria ("Hospital of sacred heart of Don Kalabria") located in the province Verona, Italy.
As the producer notes, the HyperArc system created based on installations for treatment of oncological diseases of Varian TrueBeam and Edge allows doctors to deliver the optimal radiation dose precisely corresponding to the size, a form and localization of a tumor to the defeat center at the expense of what more sparing impact on surrounding healthy fabrics is reached.
