2017: Announcement

In September, 2017 the car maker Jaguar Land Rover provided the automobile wheel allocated with the system of artificial intelligence. New development of the company received the name Sayer — in honor of the designer Malcolm Sayer working on the D-Type, E-Type and XJS cars.

Announced a role has unusual construction — in the form of an oval from the polished metal with two information displays and voice actuation.

Sayer is developed within the concept providing a full integration of a steering wheel with automobile electronics and the user devices.

The gadget will help to plan a travel, to lay a route and  even to wake the user that that  did not miss the planned trip. 

Thus, drivers will be able to take a wheel with themselves. First of all, innovation is focused on use in pilotless machines. For example, knowing a daily routine of the owner, the device will give the car with an auto pilot a command to drive up to the house or to lay in the navigator a route to the planned destination.

Besides, the wheel will be able to interact with carsharing services, for example, loading settings of provision of chairs, the audio system and the automobile navigator into each machine which the owner of such wheel uses.

Jaguar Land Rover did not specify when the innovative development reaches mass market. Its public presentation will take place at the Festival of technologies of Jaguar Land Rover which will take place from September 8 to September 10, 2017 in Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design.

Sayer will show as a part of a concept of Future-Type created for demonstration of what, according to Jaguar Land Rover, will be self-driving vehicles after 2040.^[1]
