The anti-resonant microstructured light guide with a hollow core — the innovation optical fiber capable to work in different spectral areas.

On September 5, 2017 the Schwabe holding of State Corporation Rostec announced creation of a prototype of the anti-resonant microstructured light guide with a hollow core. This development has the deduction mechanism, atypical for traditional fiber optics, in a core of the transferred radiation and has a wide scope.

The innovation optical fiber is initiative development of the enterprise of Schwabe holding — Research and Institute of Technology of optical materials science of the All-Russian scientific center "GOI of S.I. Vavilov" (NITIOM) and Bauman Moscow State Technical University (MSTU). The light guide manufactured of quartz glass is capable to work in the different spectral ranges — from seen to an average infrared.

The new light guide has the mechanism of formation and deduction, atypical for fiber optics, in a core of the transferred radiation: light is reflected from the quartz walls surrounding a hollow core at the expense of the anti-resonance phenomenon. Thanks to this effect optical fiber has several fields of transmission of a signal, including on average the infrared range which use is extremely perspective for a number of industrial applications" — the First Deputy CEO of holding Schwab Sergey Popov told.

Optical fiber has a wide scope: laser sources of average infrared range, transmission system of powerful continuous and pulse radiation, touch devices, applications of biophotonics and quantum optics.

NITIOM and MSTU test an optical fiber prototype. Start of the given product in serial production at the enterprise of holding is planned for the second half of 2018.
